Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Bossly Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 (edited) Default on app, no... Because it already displays cats on navigation bar. If you want to do on your own, you need to create one php file for each tab and place them on applications/tutorials/extensions/core/frontNavigation folder.Take a look in the file that's already there and same file from other applications.First off went to ACP>Customizations>Localizations>Languages and changed from Tutorials to Tutorials 1 to prevent confusionthen Made a backupthen Went to file manager then located Tutorials.php @ (applications/tutorials/extensions/core/frontNavigation/Tutorials.php)Now do I simply copy that Tutorials.php and paste it on the same location? (so I'll have 2 Tutorials.php under /frontNavigation) and then just rename it to Tutorials1.php and Tutorials2.php?? Edited August 10, 2015 by Bossly
Adriano Faria Posted August 10, 2015 Author Posted August 10, 2015 No, it's way more than that. You have to open and understand to make on your own. Edits to the resource is not part of the support.I suggest you use the other app I linked you to.
Bossly Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 yeah that seems like an easier alternativethanks

Bossly Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Which part in the Localization>Languages due I go to to change the word 'Tutorials' shown in the breadcrumbs ??
Adriano Faria Posted August 11, 2015 Author Posted August 11, 2015 Which part in the Localization>Languages due I go to to change the word 'Tutorials' shown in the breadcrumbs ?? This one ? Language bit module__tutorials_tutorials. It's much easier if you use the QUICK TRANSLATE tool to translate things across the suite. Bossly 1
Adriano Faria Posted August 11, 2015 Author Posted August 11, 2015 Please, use the search in your Language system! This case is different. If you search for tutorials in this category you won't find. So go excluding words. If you try search for in this category you'll find: Bossly 1

Adriano Faria Posted August 11, 2015 Author Posted August 11, 2015 IPS4 uses variables on language bits. So those with numbers or plural, you better search without them.
Bossly Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 New feature: allow tutorials to be redirect link...just like in forums
Adriano Faria Posted August 11, 2015 Author Posted August 11, 2015 New feature: allow tutorials to be redirect link...just like in forumsForums app redirect a FORUM; Thinking this way, Tutorials app should redirect a CATEGORY, not a tutorial... right?I don't see much sense. You're on an app that stores tutorials. Why would I send someone away ? AndyF 1

You're on an app that stores tutorials. Why would I send someone away ?Is there a way to redirect tutorials (under certain category) to another site? No, and that's what I replied above. Not sure it is really a good thing to do. I don't think people will want to buy an app to create tutorials that simply redirect you elsewhere.Today you can create a tutorial and paste a link inside of it.I guess that will have to do Edited August 11, 2015 by Bossly

Adriano Faria Posted August 13, 2015 Author Posted August 13, 2015 anyway to fix this overlapping issue? If the category name is too long, it overlaps with the # of tutorials in that categoryI can make the name fixed in X characters and add ... when it's bigger than that, just like I do on category view.I'll do it for the next version. icedream Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Hi Adriano,What is the difference between Tutorial and Pages? It looks like the same as Documents Page on this site.
Adriano Faria Posted August 21, 2015 Author Posted August 21, 2015 (edited) What is the difference between Tutorial and Pages? It looks like the same as Documents Page on this site. This is a separated app, there's nothing to do with Pages. Tutorails was built in 2006/7, way before Pages, so I keep updating it for those who use it and don't want to have Pages.PLUS: some features that Pages doesn't do on databases:Integration with the Bulk Mail systemIntegration with ACP Live Seach (Tutorials categories)Ability to quickly convert a forum post into a new tutorialAbility to copy a tutorial from one category to another or to the same categoryAbility to create a tutorial in another user's behalfAbility to create topics to existing tutorialsAbility to make tutorials of topicsAbility to rebuild support topics text if you have changed the template on Tutorials settings.
