Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
pisaldi Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Hi everybody,I've upgraded my live site in a trial site, the upgrade process has worked correctly, but the problem comes when I want to work with the new v4I don't know why but the site and the ACP appears in Text mode instead using a Theme. I don't know if this is caused with the upgrading of the old skins or which is the cause...Anybody knows de cause and the solution? Thanks in Advance
pisaldi Posted November 21, 2014 Author Posted November 21, 2014 Which row in the table core_members must I change and to what value? I tried changing skin to Null, 0 and 1 and didn't work Thanks
craigf136 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Pisaldi, the way I fixed it, was to upload a copy of the skin from a fresh install of V4 (I installed a fresh install before trying the upgrade), upload the new skin, change it to default, set admin cp to this skin and go to the forum and select change theme and choose the new skin. That's how I did it.
pisaldi Posted November 23, 2014 Author Posted November 23, 2014 Thanks for your answer! The problem is that ACP and the site is in "text" so I can't change the skin I also installed a clean beta, and I'll copy the folders from the skin (/uploads/cxx_built1 and /uploads/set_images_1) in the clean installation to the upgrade installation... http://prueba.invisionhispano.com
craigf136 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 This is a snapshot showing the installed themes I have and that my default is List View 2 Default List View 2 Grid View Admin CP Style This shows the default skin as default now This shows the main forum now (using the default skin) and text output only and no style. If you use a 2nd skin available to everyone, and then click on the theme from the list that shows under them (see above) it will change to the theme you selected with style.
pisaldi Posted November 25, 2014 Author Posted November 25, 2014 After 5 new upgrades, the result is the same... only TEXT view and impossible to change the theme as it doesn't show the option to change the theme... I have all paths changed with the correct permissions as indicated... It is frustrating and I'll have to use the clean one and forget this upgraded one version for a future... But, I continue thinking that this is a bug... http://www.prueba.invisionhispano.com One curious thing I find is that if I try to make another upgrade in the upgraded version it doesn't indicate it is in version Beta 2, it continue indicating it is in version 3.4.7 and I suppose that had to be changed

pisaldi Posted November 25, 2014 Author Posted November 25, 2014 The site I upgraded was from v3.4.7 to Beta 2 The database was reduced a lot, as I only left 4 forums, a few files to download and only the original theme... it was reduced from 400Mb to 80Mb It was converted to UTF8 with no problem and when the upgrade was doing I received no errors from the upgrade program.... How to solve this problem? A big mistery...

pisaldi Posted November 25, 2014 Author Posted November 25, 2014 what Nathan saying all links in view source for css etc pointing to href='BETAhttp://www.prueba.invisionhispano.com/the word beta breaking the source code. Thanks for your answer... As I don't know where to automatically delete the word BETA, I have used phpMyAdmin and gone to the table core_themes and have deleted all BETAs from set_css_map and set_image_mapAlso deleted BETA in table core_themes_images, core_attachments, core_emoticonos, core_file_storage But continues without working... I suppose I forgot some... If I check the code thetype='text/javascript' src='BETAhttp://www.prueba.invisionhispano.com/uploads/javascript_global/root_library.js.b130530daded92486158f5182f6a3b4d.js?v=54afd7b4dade24b13af6965c0807e516' data-ips></script>continues in javascript, but I don't know where to change that...
pisaldi Posted November 25, 2014 Author Posted November 25, 2014 hang on just noticed your visitor ! group = no license ! how can use your forum if don't have one unless the group wrong !I have some users with different licences... I usually use the user pisaldi to read and write here in these forums...The user with has the licence is the one which has registered the invisionhispano.com licence and is the user invisionhispano But I don't like to sign in and sign out continuously and that's the reason why I always use this user... and as it is not needed to have the licence for read / write in this forum I use pisaldiAnd they have recently changed this, as I have perpetual licences in all my accounts, and no far from today it also indicated Clients

invisionhispano Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 you do know have issue with perpetual license with 4.0.x coming ? i had to convert over to the new system allow 4.0.x be used. I think it will be better to follow this Beta forum with this user... I've converted the invisionhispano.com licence, but I haven't converted at this moment the other licences... Invision Hispano is a site used to inform other users ot the last things happening in the world of Invision... and the other licences don't need to have the last version of the software and will wait to upgrade till all hooks, modules and skins used have been upgraded... In the conversion I think IPS has done a good job with the USD100 credit I'll convert other licences in some months
Pete T Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Ok back to problem then if happy i can look your issue but will need lot access to check on stuff if noticed my site already on 4.0.x has been from pre install 1.0.15, if like me look problem please send me PM and talk over what need or how help there.
Nathan Explosion Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Not just the BETA but also the WWW in the url - you aren't serving a site on http://www.prueba.invisionhispano.com
craigf136 Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 I actually just redid the upgrade from 3.4.7 to v4, but it actually worked this time and didn't give me a stylesheet problem, so I can't post any screenshots of the areas to look at. However, within the ACP you will see the menu add theme, click it, it will bring up the upload them option (scroll to the bottom), upload a copy of the default theme from a fresh clean install of V4.Set this as the ACP theme (you will see the menu) and then you can sort out things easier by making it the default them for everyone and you can then change theme from the main index of the forum. I had the exact same problem as you (several times as indicated previously) - this worked for me every time (at least 4 occasions).
invisionhispano Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Not just the BETA but also the WWW in the url - you aren't serving a site on http://www.prueba.invisionhispano.comYes, I know. But that's not the cause of the theme problems and during the beta period working without www isn't a problem
Nathan Explosion Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Ok - if you think that's not a problem with the theme, which is handled by CSS/JS files which are being served from a URL that doesn't work, then fair enough. Good luck.
Nathan Explosion Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Here is a picture of your forum after I've made it possible for my laptop to resolve the non-working url (added www.prueba.invisionhispano.com to my local hosts file)
invisionhispano Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Ok. So there is the problem... I will work on solving problems with that and repare the .htaccess file so it points correctly also with www Thanks for you help!
