Rhett
On shared hosting, there is nothing you can do concerning server load, this is the load on the whole server, meaning all accounts and not specific to only your site.
Makoto
What Rhett said. But on my dedicated my server load usually idles around or just under 1.00 That's with around ~10,000 visitors and ~130,000 pageviews a day
Grumpy
The server load from admin panel never even shows the correct reading for me. It's perma-stuck on 0.79.

h-y-b-r-i-d
0.01 although its quite meaningless without traffic, hardware and software info. Dedi, SSD, php-fpm, Varnish, xCache, mod_pagespeed. I would say these days its all about your sofware stack over bare hardware.
