Marcher Technologies Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Marcher, I'll let my members know that about Content relational fields lol. One of my members just taught me and everyone about Quick Navigation so I owe them one. ... so a 100-record dropdown/multi-select works for you? :logik: Why I swapped to My Media. Not scalable.... and ripping the record data out for display on display is painful.
rbiss Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Speaking of unused features has anyone used a Gravitar before?
rbiss Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 I removed our forums status updates but was later told it was still there through quick navigation. ... so a 100-record dropdown/multi-select works for you? :logik: Why I swapped to My Media. Not scalable.
Dmacleo Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 do you mean smacks them around in a good way? it seems you meant that but I wanted to be sure. the more I use it, the more devs start to utilize it, I think there is a lot of unlocked potential but I am not good with that stuff so I may be wrong.

Consider this, you have a set of fields or a field you wish to allow reuse of. using a relational, you are limited to using it in that database and a meager return sans shenanigans on queries. and the selection process is horrible with any sizable quantity. Using my media, you have the data you need pushed to a skin template to be pushed into the editor easily, and can set it up once and be done for all.... no mussing with each template in turn.... Search and pagination is nice too.
Dmacleo Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 ok, I thought thats what you talking about but with my limited knowledge I like to check :) I feel there is a ton of power there that developers will start to use more (I know you have in the media app) and the users are starting to look at it on my end. it just seemed to me, again as just a user, that this was one of the best additions to the CKE they could have done....other than dumping CKE that is :)
bfarber Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 To those suggesting my media should simply insert img tags...the problem is that images are NOT the only thing shareable through the my media window. That's not to say we couldn't make it more context-sensitive, however you can't just insert an img tag for a calendar event and be done with it.

Gallery (Global)->bbCodeImage <if test="ismediathumb:|:$image['media'] == 1"> <a href="{parse url="app=gallery&module=images&section=img_ctrl&img={$image['id']}&file=media" base="public"}" rel='lightboxgallery'><img src='{parse url="app=gallery&module=images&section=img_ctrl&img={$image['id']}&file=media" base="public"}' class='sharedmedia_image' /></a> <else /> <a href="{parse url="app=gallery&module=images&section=img_ctrl&img={$image['id']}" base="public"}" rel='lightboxgallery'><img src='{parse url="app=gallery&module=images&section=img_ctrl&img={$image['id']}&tn=1" base="public"}' class='sharedmedia_image' /></a> </if> if possible, showing the Content to be Shared is preferable... even truncated text/ some details and a link is preferable to most than just the link to the item.... and yes, we can very often do so, data fed to skin templates accomplishes much.... Including conditional permission checks.... the whole idea and SIZE of my media being boxed up is unnecessary to me.... it should act as inline posted content... not this boxy thing.... course the fact you insist on using flowplayer in gallery means media cant be parsed  . I'm still wondering, to be frank, why you don't use your own media tag library in gallery.
