I'm not sure what 'weight' you're referring to, I didn't make any fundamental change to font sizes or font-weight CSS properties. You can decrease the size of the input box if your issue is just that the My Prefs button is now on the next line.

Edit the skin_shoutbox_hooks -> hookGlobalShoutbox skin template, find this line:

                       	 <input type='text' id='shoutbox-global-shout' size='70' class='input_text' />

Change the 70 to something smaller, save and upload. Note, though, I didn't touch this in this version either. So I'm not sure why this looks different on your site now.

I have no idea neither, okay so that did the trick :) thanks bro :D last question for now, I might be mistaken but didnt it use to go across the board where it was over the sidebar?

All working fine now am not sure if its a bug but I've alway had mine on theme two. Before I played with the theme settings just now it looked like this

post-168862-0-47781300-1331930626_thumb.

now that I select theme one and then back to theme two it looks like this

post-168862-0-08791300-1331930719_thumb.

which is how I remembered it thats why I asked those questions.

Theme two doesn't change that, theme two is where the input box and buttons are located. To change whether or not the Global Shoutbox hook is above the sidebar area or whether it is just above the forum categories, you need to change your option in the 'Hook to enable?' settings.

Micheal can you clear up what is really holding up the shoutbox coming to mobile skins? Is it the javascripts in the mobile skin being different, is it due to template changes so the shoutbox hook isn't being implemented. Is it some deep coding by IPB that stops applications like the shoutbox working on the mobile skin? Or is on your end?

I'm very sure a lot of the users would really like the chance to enable the shoutbox on the mobile skin but nothing has been done and people don't know who can fix it.

I've also got a third party mobile skin, the shoutbox doesn't work with it either. I've tried messing about with the javascript files and the html of the mobile skins with no results.

Hey there Michael...

I recently upgrade Firefox to version 11.0 and I have shoutbox 1.2.8 installed... I cant edit any of the shouts.. I click the edit button it takes me to the shoutbox full view page, but then nothing happens.. the edit box wont come up... IM not sure if there was an issue before or not, as I didnt have a need to edit most of the shouts till now... Any Ideas?

What's really holding it up? I don't have a device I can test it on.

shoutbox_mobile_templates.xml....
Gotta have something there for mobile to recognize Michael.... they are all empty templates, that is precisely the answer to that question.
Add some templating and feel the love of the masses :smile:
Unless I completely misunderstand and the issue is with rendering ala stock default non-mobile on the device 0-o.... I cannot test that properly either -.-

Well, obviously. But without a device to test what it shows up like on a mobile device accessing it, I can't know that what code I'm putting in there is correct. It's one thing to test it in Firefox on my PC running in that skin, it's another thing entirely for an iPhone or whatever to be accessing it. Besides, most folks tell me it works pretty well in the normal skin on their smart phones.

Can't you enable access to the mobile skin on for pc's on your development board then release a test version for people to respond with and give you feedback. With most new devices the shoutbox works fully when you select a normal desktop skin.

I've got a WP7 phone which basically just uses a tweaked version of IE9.

Yes, I could. There is an existing suggestion in the tracked for this, but it only has one upvote so far, so it didn't seem like a pressing issue:

Make sure you have uploaded all of the files for this version, and do a hard browser refresh (Ctrl+F5). If you customized any skin templates, you may need to revert them.

The /me command is a bit strange, especially when you have the group formatting on. It doesn't exactly work like IRC does or other chatting things that use /me (like SL).

This is what it does now

Rimi Rimi is using the /me command

Moderator This a moderators shout

Rimi This is a shout

However, /me generally works like this

Rimi is using the /me command

Moderator This a moderators shout

Rimi This is a shout

Or

Rimi is using the /me command

Moderator This a moderators shout

Rimi This is a shout

More often it looks like that last one.

Just a suggestion.

I really like this version of the shoutbox. Thank you very much, Michael!

The only issue I am having is that there are white boxes around each shout. I have tried a fresh install of the shoutbox and can't seem to get rid of them. They are extremely noticeable on dark skins.

Is this a known issue? Does anyone know a fix for this?

Thanks!

Those borders are defined in the ipshoutbox.css styelsheet in each skin, here:

#shoutbox-shouts-table {

	border: 1px solid #d5dde5;

}

#shoutbox-shouts-table .row2 td {

	border-bottom: 1px solid #d5dde5;

	vertical-align: middle;

}

Just remove those border lines, save, and do a hard browser refresh.
