Should 1.2.7 version appear like that?

I don't have that option for some reason?

Try disabling and re-enabling the hook. This has been covered in this topic before. I know, I know, there's so much to read through in this topic, but every time I have to re-answer a question like this it makes the topic even longer, and makes the next person even less likely to check first.

I'm not sure what you're referring to. I don't know what skin you're using, so I can't comment on anything specific to that skin. But I don't see anything jumping out at me as being incorrect about that screenshot.

You can change the position of the hook in the Settings -> Hook: Global Shoutbox settings if you don't like it there.

And as before, your issue with the buttons not working is because either the javascript file is not present/corrupt or your have skin templates customized from the default which is preventing the actions from being bound to those buttons.

Doesn't make any difference, it just turns on and off the shoutbox above the forums. I did search this topic for the keyword "sidebar", but there's only one response which isn't the one:

No worries though, I'm not prepared to read through 49 pages of replies, so I'll just leave it disabled :)

If toggling the hook off and on doesn't help, then try going to the Manage Applications & Modules page and clicking the button to rebuild the Apps & Modules cache. The setting section should show if the hook is enabled, but every once in a while some cache in IP.Board gets stale and won't check this properly.

I don't see any Shoutbox on your site when I am logged in, don't know if you have it on just one skin or maybe only available to certain groups, so no, I'm not able to suggest any fix for what's wrong on your site.

Michael I just did the new update, no issues with templates any more (indeed the problem was caused by these two old problematic templates).

However, I had an issue, and I don't know if others had the same problem: Global Shoutbox did not appear in every page (although I had "Display on: Every page", but just in the Board View.
This was solved when I changed back to "Board View" and then to "Every page" and now everything seems ok.

Yeah, I've seen that reported before too. I don't know that there's anything I can do about that, as the way this app allows you to change where the hook is displayed is a major hack to the hooks system.

I had an issue with the buttons not working or shoutbox displaying on every page like it should, i fixed them by doing the following:

  • revert template customization's
  • redo customization
  • recache skins
  • go into the global hook settings and click apply (i didn't change anything)

Not sure which one fixed it but that got it working

hey michael. i had a question. i dont suppose there is anyway to make this work (efficiently, and so it wont effect anything else)

but me (and my members) always get annoyed when u go to scroll to the past shouts to read and try to catch up. but when ur reading. if someone posts, it will take you back up to the top (most current)

then u scroll back down... another post. and ur back at teh top.

is there any way to make it so it wont do that? i understand why u have that but i was just wondering if there was anything I could do (or u) to fix this or make it less annoying.

not a big deal. we were just talking bout it and thought i would bring it up to ya

Hey,

Well I am back lol.

This time I have a more severe error.

I disabled the app because I was warned by ipb (My refresh rate was to low) and decided to re-enable.

Now the shoutbox only shows up on the forums page and it still will not let anyone shout!

Please help?

Thanks.

I feel like a dumbass considering that the conversation above mine was speaking about the issue with the shoutbox on every page, I guess now the only issue that persists is the not being able to shout at all.

I'm in the same hole in a way i can't not shout on my shoutbox for some reason i don't know why i have asked different people if they can help and they do not know why it will not allow anyone to shout in the shoutbox if anyone could help me on how i could fix that.

Set the ajax refresh rate higher if it's refreshing new shouts too soon for you to read through all of the old ones.

OK, for all of those complaining that you can't shout because the buttons don't work, again I will re-emphasize that the cause of that is that the javascript code that handles the button clicks is not getting properly set on your install. Here are some steps to fix your installation.

  1. Verify that you have properly uploaded all files for the new version. Don't just assume that because you FTPed them that they successfully uploaded; most FTP programs will be very silent about any errors they had during the upload process and you may not necessarily know if a file failed to upload. At the very least, the following files should be downloaded from your site and compared with copies of the files from the download of this app to make sure they are the right version and same number of lines:
  2. /public/js/shoutbox.js
  3. /admin/applications_addon/other/shoutbox/xml/shoutbox_root_css.xml
  4. /admin/applications_addon/other/shoutbox/xml/shoutbox_root_templates.xml
[*]Go to your Look & Feel -> Template Tools page in your Admin CP. In the 'Rebuild Master Skin Data' section, check the boxes for 'Rebuild HTML' and 'Rebuild CSS' on the left, and 'Shoutbox' on the right, then click the Rebuild button. [*]After that is done, back on that Look & Feel -> Template Tools page, at the top, click the button for Recaching all skin sets. [*]Next, go to the Look & Feel -> Manage Skin Sets & Templates page, go through each of your skins you use, and revert any customized skin templates in the 'skin_shoutbox' or 'skin_shoutbox_hooks' sections. A lot of javascript changed in this latest release, and if you customized any templates then the upgrade will not have applied them. [*]Finally, on your board itself, do a hard browser refresh (Ctrl+F5). [*]If the buttons still do not let you shout, then you either missed a step here somewhere, or something else is interfering. Feel free to PM me FTP and Admin CP details for your site explaining that these steps did not work for you, and I'll see what the problem is. Please actually do these steps before asking for help, though, I'm going to be a bit miffed if I fix the problem because you didn't follow this advice.

Hey Michael, I have a question I think you could answer about time format

The standard one is Date/Time

I would like for it to be, real time such as

Is there anyway to do that? Much appreciated.
