Wolfie Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 That's up to you, but the point was to say that not everything needs to prompt for verification. If you aren't sure what a button or link does, then you shouldn't just randomly click it. If you do and you didn't want to do the selected action, then that's on you for clicking it. There's only so much that IPS (or any company) can do to pamper a person on what will happen when they click a button/link.
.Ian Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 All language files are easily editable, so each admin can have the words that they prefer :) Problem solved :)
bfarber Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 One word: no. And it's obviously why's that. With all the other links (go to blog, write pm) you do not finish an action without noticing you, you can go back with your browser. Or you can cancel it. however if you click on the "add friend" link, you finished the "add friend" process. And you get not "you just added user abc as a friend" message. An alternative would be have a "Do you really want to add user abc as a friend?" question like facebook. Or get a "You just added user abc as your friend. Reclick on the icon to undo it". As an aside, you can easily click the link a second time to remove the user as a friend, once you realized what you'd done.
Amy T Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 I will admit I clicked it on accident before, specially on 2.3.6. I was meaning to click send message and clicked add friend. I just did what bfarber said.
Camoo Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Its not like that you delete the whole member account without noticing it. Hey at least you get a new friend with only one click! I think its not so bad when you add someone as your friend :) And when you really want to, you can undo the action.
rookiegirl Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 how do you delete someone who is already a friend? I can't find it anywhere?
Wolfie Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 how do you delete someone who is already a friend? I can't find it anywhere?Go to their profile, on the left you can remove them as a friend.
shought Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 I do support the idea about adding a message 'You've added ... as a friend'. All other actions get a message; replying, posting a topic, sending a PM, being moved to the proper forum (when a topic is moved). It might not be a great improvement, but it's an improvement. Adding a confirmation window would be overdoing it though.
TestingSomething Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 I don't know, but I thought they made firends where it had to be mutual yet I see people on my sites have freinds who haven't even been on in ages. I don't use the feature much, but am thinking there was a setting related to it. If so the default should be to NOT automatically allow friends to add you.
TestingSomething Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 As an aside, you can easily click the link a second time to remove the user as a friend, once you realized what you'd done. Still the person is correct that there should be confirmation text I guess. But I've seen on other sites with custom forum software not have confirmations for adding freinds. Those cases did not involve graphics though, so it was very obvious what the link did. Personally I hover over buttons and links all the time to be sure whether or not there is text. Everyone should do that if unsure.
rookiegirl Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Go to their profile, on the left you can remove them as a friend. I know I am not blonde but I clearly cant see it. Can you attach a screenshot. Pretty please!
