Brandon D Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 [quote name='dr. Jekyll' post='1778812' date='Dec 31 2008, 01:20 PM']Please, do not forget Joomla! ;) I just started working on Joomla! the other day. http://brandondavie.com/ :P JIB.Auth (allows IPB users to sign into Joomla!) has been released as a beta. JIB.User (SSO, registers an IPB account when they register for J!, etc) beta 1 will be out today or tomorrow.
AndyTSJ Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 I would love to see some kind of Facebook login module.
nico81 Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Facebook Connect & IP.Board 3.x is a must! ;) Facebook Connect could be fantastic both as login-method and to publish on Facebook the forum activity-updates.
Michael Trimm Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 That actually sounds great. I think that IPB should definitely integrate itself with Facebook. I'm for it!
Malefickus Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I'm for it, but then you'll have the people who want it to integrate with MySpace, hi5, or any other social networking site out there, just because it integrates with FaceBook and they'll feel like the dorky kid in 4th grade who was always picked last for the kickball team.
Jimi Wikman Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 A Facebook Connect feature could also tie into the members profiles and friendslists directly... I for one is willing to pay for such a modification...
Carl M Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 [quote name='Jimi Wikman' post='1779193' date='Jan 3 2009, 02:25 AM']A Facebook Connect feature could also tie into the members profiles and friendslists directly... I for one is willing to pay for such a modification... I have a dark side forum (vbulletin) and today ive installed a hack that allows people to register by using a facebook login, its good in the respect it doesnt reveal the users info (email address etc) but yet in can tie in a users profile pic to become an Avatar. If anyone wants to try it visitwww.technodanceaphobic.com and click on the "Connect with Facebook" button on the right hand side. I can see a big future for this kind of mod once its properly configured and support so im interested in see Bfarbers work when he gets around to it ;) . EDIT: It also sends notifications off to facebook when a user is sent a PM and gives the option to publish a topic in a users wall posts on facebook etc, it also makes members who are friends on facebook it also makes them friends in the forum too.
djXpire76 Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 http://flowerpod.com.sg/forums/style_emoticons/default/jammin.gif]Yeah, the Facebook Connect is 100% a MUST!!! FTW FB Connect!!! http://flowerpod.com.sg/forums/style_emoticons/default/jammin.gif]
Spirix Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 Looks like alot of people are having success with the FB Connect feature. This site had over 58% new visitors signing up for it using FBConnect:http://www.insidefacebook.com/2008/12/10/k...cebook-connect/ Also according to this article under number FBConnect is doing very well:http://www.sitepoint.com/blogs/2009/01/08/...ave-a-big-2009/ This company dropped OpenID:http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/OpenID?t=anon IPB or someone should look into getting FB Connect to work with IPB as it seems to be a lot more successful then OpenID.
djXpire76 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 WOW! the FB connect is a 100% sure win, I wont mind paying for this MOD if we can have it right away! :D
Stuart Elliott Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Looks like IPB need to jump on the bandwagon quick, or look to be dragging its heels.Microsoft is keen to use Windows 7 to promote its Live services. Newly announced is that Live Messenger will integrate with Facebook, so you can get friend updates in Messenger.
princetontiger Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 You can do this with a mod for vB... only problem is, I don't believe you can ban users... facebook is everything openid wishes it was...
