Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
SinaMiandashti Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Hi u ... and me ... and everyone .. knows that IPB is best cms and forum software in the world ... and other cms cant do any fu**in thing in front of it ... a problem i every time see in IPB software ... is that ::: it dont have any static module .. i mean .. if a webmaster want to know the static of visitors like : 1- where they live 2- their browsers 3- their os 4- they coming from which site to my site : ex from google yahoo .. yahoo360 ... myspace .... 5- the visit of today (hits ) yesterday month year .... it really bad that such a power fulll software dont have a ... good static module ... really appreciate any reply from IPS.
Brett B Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 I'd suggest a server-based statistics system like Webalizer or AWStats.
SinaMiandashti Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 I suggest ... adding it to IPB 3.0 would be nice
Wondering Soul Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Its not really what IP.Board is about...Its a forum system, it tells you everything about your users that's related to your forum. Things like their OS and so on isn't particularly relevant. Adding a full set of analytics tools would just be "unneeded code" for a lot of users because they use a system that is way more advanced like Woopra or Google Analytics.
Morrigan Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Google Analytics FTW!!! ( http://google.com/analytics )
Wondering Soul Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Google Analytics FTW!!! ( http://google.com/analytics ) Personally, I prefer Woopra now. I have used Google Analytics for 2 years but Woopra is proving to be slightly better in my opinion. One of the main reasons I changed is because I can see all of my statistics with Woopra from my desktop through their Application. Plus, they have real-time updates.
Amy T Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 I use awstats but might try Woopra or google analytics.

IPB is a horrible CMS, are you sure you know exactly what a CMS is? HINT: It's not a forum.
SinaMiandashti Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 u guys mean ... dont add such thing to IPB?
Amy T Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 IPB is a horrible CMS, are you sure you know exactly what a CMS is? HINT: It's not a forum. Ya it is a forum but I guess you can use it as a cms just like some use a blog system as a cms.
.Matt. Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Ya it is a forum but I guess you can use it as a cms just like some use a blog system as a cms. Point taken. But for the best results you would want to bridge the best CMS with the best forum(IPB).
3DKiwi Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Doesn't get my vote. Should I want to know these stats I look em up in the control panel on my server. I'd much rather IPS spent it's time on fixing up the basics like preventing signature images being used rather than frilly things. 3DKiwi
Management Lindy Posted September 13, 2008 Management Posted September 13, 2008 Those types of statistics would carry significant database overhead and are best left to those who specialize in such things, such as Google Analytics.
stoo2000 Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Personally, I prefer Woopra now. I have used Google Analytics for 2 years but Woopra is proving to be slightly better in my opinion. One of the main reasons I changed is because I can see all of my statistics with Woopra from my desktop through their Application. Plus, they have real-time updates. I had a look at Woopra, have not downloaded it yet as we still use Google Analytics, but I do notice a breif mention of an API for Woopra, do you know if this has the ability to pull statistics / graphs etc into your website ? I've been looking for something like that I could include in a private area for our website staff.

I've been looking for something like that I could include in a private area for our website staff. Im not sure about that. I didn't even know they had an API available (i've been using it since before that). They answer emails pretty quickly so if you throw them an email asking about it they will be sure to tell you!
TrixieTang Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 1- where they live AWStats2- their browsers AWStats3- their os AWStats4- they coming from which site to my site : ex from google yahoo .. yahoo360 ... myspace .... Mat Barrie Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 AWStats  Nah. I use Urchin for my analytics needs.
Twisted Gamer Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Nah. I use Urchin for my analytics needs. Yeah its call Google Analytic, unless your paid for their dedicated install license.
SinaMiandashti Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 thanks for reply everyone it seems its better use additional softwares for this ... thanks
Jaggi Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 ipb isn't a cms, nexus is... if they ever release it :P.
Mat Barrie Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Yeah its call Google Analytic, unless your paid for their dedicated install license. No, it's called Urchin. And you mean unless my datacenter paid for a license. Which they did.
