Perpetual IPB and Gallery license

I was just thinking about my support status and always keep my IPB support paid, even though I have a perpetual license and forever access to upgrades... however, I was just looking at my downloads in customer area and notice I cannot download uppgrades, even though I originally purchased in when perpetual licenses were issues... is this correct?... because the download link has always been there before.

Might be best to open a ticket in the Client Center for this enquiry, so you get a quick and accurate response (as the IPS staff member answering your ticket will be able to see your account / status etc) :)

I already opened a ticket to ask and apparently there never was.... so the fact that I've always been able to download updates up until now must've been a mistake

if you bought them together, they usually have them as a package deal so when you renewed your support for IPB your gallery support renewed also.

I think they changed that when the new packages went out last year

Something similiar happened with a client of mine where we had access to blog and gallery, then then I open a ticket about it and the slam the doors shut, saying you can't have access to it anymore...

If this is true, then this need clarifying from someone at the top.

Well that makes people not want to point out issues to them, I would think... If it's going to cause access to suddenly be taken away. :)

Hello,

I think these types of topics get confusing to those who don't have access to view account information. To be clear, you have an IPB perpetual license and had a Gallery license which you allowed to expire earlier this year. You are able to download IPB updates (I've logged into your client area and verified this myself) per the terms of your license. The terms of the Gallery license haven't changed - we've never had a perpetual license. You were previously able to access Gallery downloads because up until March, you've always renewed your license. Unfortunately, we have no provisions in place to determine what version of the software you were using at the time of expiration to allow you to download only that specific version. Much like when you download something from iTunes, it's very important that you back it up as you will not be able to download it again for free (in our case, once your license has expired.)

I hope this helps.

Well I forget what I did, I think I opened a ticket on behalf on my client and then someone from IPS was like "wait you have no license" and poof all disappeared and board was all we got out of there error. Anyways I think the way licensing works needs to be POSTED in a strucutered format or in a PDF so people can understand what they are getting.

And correct me if I am wrong but I believe before they changed the licenses over whenever that was, anybody could upgrade to a perpetual up to 30 or something days after it expired, but I wasn't allowed to do that? Same deal with transfers, I should have the right to transfer my license to another customer regardless of what I'm transferring. Because maybe since I'm not going to pay 50 dollars a year to renew my license, someone else would... thus IPS would get money out of my transfer, not lose money on me shelfing them.

Does this mean once my blog license expires, it disappears from my client area?

If you go the the my purchases or whatever I'm not sure if its still there, I would assume so but not in a active state, then if you go to the invoices, it will show up with 1 expired, ect.
