Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted May 12, 200718 yr If you look at the image below there is a double link? Atleast thats what you can call it. I logged in and went threw the redirect page and then url showed. (http://forums.invisionpower.com/index.php?http://forums.invisionpower.com/)Is this a bug or just a normal working setup that IPB has setup?
May 12, 200718 yr I've experienced this before; though I've never reported it. Maybe something related to cookies?
May 12, 200718 yr No its maybe a cookie issue or a bug issue, because it happens to me too. I just never really thought of posting, and I am using firefox, and thats the exact same URL I get sometimes.
May 13, 200718 yr I have seen this before, but the only time I've ever seen this was when I first logged into the forums and after it redirected me to the board index. It doesn't happen that often anymore, however.
May 13, 200718 yr I believe I remember this since the good old IPB 1.3 times. I don't believe its a bug though, just something I can not explain ^_^ .
May 14, 200718 yr It doesn't cause any detrimental effect - not sure why it would need to be categorized as a bug.IPB tries to capture the url to send you to when you go to login. In one or two cases it captures the full url to the board, and puts that in the URL. It doesn't hurt anything though. :)
May 18, 200718 yr This also happens on other websites like I noticed on Web Hosting Talk twice so it is in vB too.

May 21, 200718 yr Well, we could spend our time trying to remove that from the login url, or spend our time fixing REAL bugs and adding the new features people want to see in the product. You tell me which is more worthwhile. ;)
