when the release of IPB 2.3.0

Staff are already using the new skin, but there are a couple areas that need to be tweaked still, so it hasn't been made public yet. Besides that, the skin isn't going to SHIP with IPB - it will be a value-addon released at IPS Beyond, so it has nothing to do with IPB's release date.

Yesterday we updated our company forums to the next build of 2.3.0. I'm sorry that you want it and want it now, but

1) We don't give release dates SPECIFICALLY for the reason StealthAgent is inadvertently showing right here - people then come to expect there will be no delays, and if it's not released when they were hoping for it, they get upset. 2.3 will be released when it is ready. We'd rather take the extra time to get it right than release a buggy version just because people want it now, regardless of it's status. We are working on it. It's coming. There's no specific estimated date however.

2) We had 2.3 just about ready for public beta testing, when we decided to take it back to the board to make some other very promising resource enhancements which seem to be working out extremely well. When that post was made, "soon" was realistic in the context of the time frame the post was made. It's still "soon". It's not "months". But because we want to get it right (see point 1), we took a step back, made the changes we wanted to make, which took some time, and are now back at that stage.

Please be patient - I know everyone wants it - but if we put out 2.3 and it causes more bugs than it has fixed it will be a nightmare for everyone. We'd rather not see that happen. :thumbsup:

This is great to hear--I'm all for resource enhancements, especially "very promising" ones. :) Can you give us a hint as to what they may be?

I'm not sure what I can and can't let "slip" just yet, so I'll wait for official word on what to release. ;)

Resource enhancements ok fine... all cool with me. My only thing is I have work ridding on this release date for two people that want stuff done, and will I told them to wait for the release since it would be smoother, but when it takes for ever you get testy clients... which leads to a unhappy StealthAgent :P

Its just disappointing when you are waiting for the release and it never comes... but I though the skin was going to be released along side IP Board, thats for clearing it up that its a IPS Beyond Addon. Looking forward to this as everyone else.

2.3 was announced on April 16th that it was being tested on the company forums. It hasn't even been a month. A public beta hasn't even been announced yet.

I'm anxious for the release, but at least realistic. i definitely wouldn't be indicating to clients that there's a 2.3 upgrade coming really soon.

.................................................... As I keep saying, it says it is expected to be released 1-2 weeks from that date you mentioned. Delays happen, but don't act like someone is dumb becuase it "hasn't even been a month" when the entry itself said 1-2 weeks. They should understand delays happen, but they sure shouldn't think theya re being dumb to not have known to begin with it would be a month or longer when the entry hinted otherwise. lol

It was about 1-2 weeks, and we decided rather than rush it, get it done right. We didn't call anyone dumb, nor do I think anyone is being dumb about the release. We're simply working to get the best possible release out - and yes, we are working to do it as quickly as possible.

I think this topic has run it's course. I don't see much constructive feedback, nor any feature suggestions coming in, so we'll just end it now. 2.3 is on it's way - there is no official estimated release date. Even unofficial LOOSE estimates get is in trouble as you can see by the confusion demonstrated here. :)
