May 2, 200717 yr When it's ready...I'm sorry, but for quite some time now we've had a policy of not letting out estimated release dates. ;)
May 2, 200717 yr Well it was said it was expected to be released in 1-2 weeks and it's been more than 2 and I see more than 10 confirmed bugs which haven't been fixed. So I am guessing it will be a lot longer than expected. :(
May 2, 200717 yr when the release of IPB 2.3.0To simply put it flat out since yet again IPS has to learn unless they are ready to release within a four day period, they should not make news and announcements about a new release, because everyone gets hyped up, and thinks its carved in a stone once its posted.Probably when all the bugs are fixed, and when they are ready, its only a bug fixing update, no new features, so I don't see what the big deal is, and the version I am running 2.2.2 (think thats the latest) works fine don't have any bugs.
May 2, 200717 yr The big deal is supposedly topics will load faster....and where did you get this from?
May 2, 200717 yr That is hardly the biggest change in the new version. There are a lot of other performance enhancements as well.
May 2, 200717 yr There is more to 2.3 than a simple bug release. Let them finish testing, it will be out when it's ready. FTR, they never said anything about 2.3 except that this forum was running it. With specific focus on "IP.Board 2.3.0 Applied for Testing" :)
May 2, 200717 yr We get pushed into this position of 50% of the people want it now, since we're working on it, regardless of the status, and 50% want it done right and not need to update their board a week after it's released. We never officially put out an expected release date. It will be ready when it's ready. We're trying to 'get it right' rather than 'get it out fast'.
May 2, 200717 yr That is hardly the biggest change in the new version. There are a lot of other performance enhancements as well.I know. To me personally that one sounds best though. ANd the bug fixes of course.
May 2, 200717 yr Not true, digi and brandon. It says in the official announcement they "expect" it to take 1-2 weeks from that announcement date. It definitely did not say it would be released that soon, but yes it did give an estimate.
May 2, 200717 yr Expect is similar to "estimate" in this case. You can expect something and hit roadblocks. I did miss that in the topic though :)BTW, I'm also really looking forward to 2.3 for many reasons, mostly related to converge. I wish it was out now, but I'll wait...until my patience outwits me >_>
May 2, 200717 yr Well considering that bugs un-related to the new features in 2.3, which is both in 2.2 and 2.3, were found I would say be patient, please.
May 4, 200717 yr they can take as long as they want as long as the logout issue has been fixed! (I'm not in a rush to remod my board again after it took more than a month after the 2.2.2 update  )I hope manual instructions for upgrading are included. ;)
May 4, 200717 yr The manual instructions end up taking even longer than remodding. I use a lot of mods and used to use a HUGE amount of them to where it took me 8+ hours straight to get the edits back in with no break and still when I look at those manual edits, they look like they would take a year to put in sometimes.
May 4, 200717 yr I'd rather have a bug-free release than a quick release, whenever ips thinks it's ready they'll release it and that's fine with me :)
May 4, 200717 yr Community Expert Management There are quite a few code changes but not a single template change that you'll have to make.
May 4, 200717 yr Eventually I learned not to make modifications to my board... Any "added modifications" I do require zero IPB source modification and little template modification. It saves a TON of time. When ever I make a mod, since the Report Center, I tend to approach it like the IPB source files are read only. I have to do it without changing the source code... And I've had a lot of success so far. The only mod I've done that required a modification, after the report center, was my PM monitoring system that I use on my board. It's pretty much impossible to prevent a PM from being deleted permanently unless I change something... But even so, it was 5 line change, and that's all I have to worry about for each upgrade :)
May 4, 200717 yr Pretty much the same here Luke, gone are the days of mass modifications! For the very few mods i have (mostly custom), i make sure any edits that need to be made are minimal and as far as the skin is concerned, the default one is fine by me.Oh and as for topics about "when will it be released" are concerned...Zzzzzz
May 4, 200717 yr I still use a lot. But I take my time putting them abck in if I think theya ren't that important.
May 6, 200717 yr Please take your time and release a week after you think its ready and all bugs fixed. I'd rather get it right than get it fast. I want to upgrade my modifications as few times as possible.
May 8, 200717 yr Please take your time and release a week after you think its ready and all bugs fixed. I'd rather get it right than get it fast. I want to upgrade my modifications as few times as possible. That would be a mighty long time. The last time I mentioned there were 10 confirmed bugs in bug tracker still, and now there are still 9.I am in no hurry either though and obviously want it fixed and working as well as possible. Just saying it sure didn't turn out close to 1-2 weeks before release. It's going to be month(s) instead of week(s) unless they aren't going to fix every bug that is saying confirmed by it.
