Editor Suggestion For Future Release

I like what was done with the 2.2 release with the new member editing area where it is now tabbed into smaller catergories. However, one area I know this feature could be utilized also is with the Basic CSS editor. That is often a very long list to look at and might be easier to look at in a tabbed mode. I wish I would have thought of this before the 2.2 release, but hopefully it can make a future release of IPB.

In the friends list and visitors list it shows the users uploaded profile pic. I would like to see the abillity to change this to Avatar or nothing at all.

I suggest a feature where, when creating a poll, the poll owner can select a type of poll where everyone knows who voted in what. Of course that, when the poll selected is this way, a text saying that the vote is not secret would be displayed for the users ehwn voting...

I tried adding a recurring event to my calendar. Under Admin option, it states this: "Click on which groups can see this event (Admin group always selected), or leave alone so all groups can see this event. Multiple group selection allowed" When I choose nothing, I can't see the recurring event on my board index. If I choose all users, I can see it. According to the statement above, Admins should always be able to see the events, right? Or is this not the case for the board index? Just the calendar view.

Message box does not move cursor to last line when clicking below last

If you enter 3 lines into a message editor when the editor box height is larger than 3 lines (ie. there is blank space below the text), then move the cursor to the second line and click with the mouse cursor in the blank space of the editor below the last line, the cursor is not moved to the last line. It would be better IMO if it did. It should also move the cursor to the column position relative to where the mouse cursor is along the line (or at the end of the line if it's off the end). I don't like that clicking in the empty space below text in a RTE does nothing. Effectively, I want the RTE to work in the same way as the Standard with regard to this.

I think it would be a good idea for you guys to make a full moderator control panel for moderators like in vBulletin. It would be a great feature so you wouldn't have to make someone an administrator to ban people, or other administrative powers, but so they are higher up than a normal moderator. It would also be nice if you made it as customizable as vBulletin's. What does everyone else think of this idea?

Can't log in

I just installed the RC version, but now I can't log in. Well, I can, but something seems to be hung up. When I enter my username and password, I'm being told that I'm being logged in (the please wait screen). Once that screen goes away, I'm no longer logged in. I'm using the correct username and password, so I have no idea what's going on.

In the next version of Invision Powerboard I would like to see some new payment gateways such as: - Google Checkout I would also like to see the ability to allow users to trial an upgrade package nd this would work like this: - Admin creates new package - Is free trial option true ? - If free trial option is true then how many hours/days/months for ? - How often can trials be used ? So as you can see this would be great for anyone running a site like mine and this section hasn't been updated in a while. I would love to see this in the next version of IPB ;)

I have always thought it would be cool if forums had those little messages pop up when friends get on the forum, just as the instant messaging services do. I suggested that in the 2.1 friends system modification, for example. I am sure it would not be the easiest thing to do, but I assume it could be done. And maybe have each member have settings for which ones they getrt the popups for, where there wouldnt be constant popup messages if they have many friends.

Bugs in 2.2. RC1 ?

Believe found a couple of bugs as am having the following problems and wondered if anyone else can confirm 1) Create a new skin, create a new images folder for the skin and copy the default images in there set the new skin to use the new images folder Now goto the css stylesheet for the new skin and look for any image and will show as style_images/1/name of file yet the 1 should be new images folder and not 1 (which is default skin images folder) 2) In the css you cannot enter background: url(<#IMG_DIR#>/filename); when you save it you see it changes it to background: url(1/border_right.gif); Can anyone else confirm this ?

Spell check feature does not seem to work

Hi, I have installed the isSpell ActiveX, and when I click on the IPB 'abc' button to spell check my post before I post, nothing happens. I'm fairly sure isSpell is ok, since if I click on the isSpell icon in the IE tool bar, that does start the checking ok... It seems to be something up with the IPB spell check button.... Tried it on IE6 and IE7. Thanks, Rob D.

No matter how good IPB is, it still works on OS + www service + php +mysql + zend, etc. The environment performance is important to IPB. I believe a lot of us can make IPB run in the environment we setup, but we don't know what are the best settings to IPB. I suggest IPS write an IPB environment setup tutorial, like how to config the httpd.conf, php, zend, mysql, etc.

I don't use smiles on my forum, however when I'm at the posting screen a big ugly empty box shos up where the emoticons would go. On 2.1 if there weren't any emoticons to show, the box wouldn't show. Am I missing something in 2.2, or is this feature just gone?

Choose which forums to show "new posts" marker

Please include an option in the user cp to allow members to choose which forums they would like to have the new/no-new icons for forums updated. It would be very convenient for members of boards with several forums. As an example, I don't have a license to Nexus or any interest in Dynamic or the Gallery. So it would be easier for me to scan the board index to see where the new posts that I want to read would be if I could choose to not update the new post icons for the forums I don't care about. This isn't covered by the ability to minimize categories because sometimes categories may contain relevant as well as irrelevant forums.
