    The world you're describing is very dull and quite frankly one I wouldn't want to exist in. All transactions between people are motivated by some ulterior motive - monetary based or not. Whether someone did it because they wanted their good deed for the day or because you paid them money doesn't change the fact that they performed some sort of service for you. According to your logic, any exchange involving goods or services for money would be pure business with no personality. Sounds boring, doesn't it? We'll take IPS as an example, but it goes for any company. You paid them money, they gave you a license to use their product and access to support. You're even. Anything else from you or IPS is icing on the cake. Those "I apologize for the wait", "I hope you have a good weekend", "Please let us know if there's anything else we can assist you with" statements, you didn't pay for them did you? Just because the world is run on money doesn't mean you can't show a little humanity.

    Saying "thank you" is common courtesy. You know, it's one of those things that makes us human. No, you don't need to go out of your way to thank the cable company unless you feel the need - but refusing to do so, when given the chance, simply because you paid them money is what disturbs me. I honestly find it hard to believe that I'm actually debating this. Courtesy is one of the few similarities between all cultures and ignoring it simply because you think you're entitled to arrogance after forking out money for services is what gets me.

    bobage:

    I know you personally dislike me for some reason and I know you have a chip on your shoulder about us but other than complaining about me personally I see not a single complaint in your ticket history. The ticket you are referring to about your board issue is 7 pages long in our ticket system. At no time did our staff neglect your issue it just took a lot of research to find the underlying problem.

    Please do not offer misleading rants and statements just because, for some reason, you're personally angry about something as intangible as personality clashes. If you want to rant you should not wander our forum waiting for someone to dare to say something nice about us and jump in as you have been doing lately. Further, and something that cannot be tolerated any further, is attacking and baiting fellow customers. That is simply unacceptable. We are not in the business of censoring people with negative-views on us (how else do we know how to improve?) but you have gone into blind, unfocused rant territory which only serves to distract and disrupt. When your fellow customers complain to us about your behavior it is something we have to take seriously.

    We cannot address "I don't like them!" we can only address specifics. If you have a specific thing we can fix, related to your specific experience, open a support ticket, send a PM, an email, anything to point out that issue. As of this moment, you have not a single open support ticket in our system.

    After checking out the article, and attempting the edit myself, I've noticed a couple of things.
    I was able to fix those by adding in a replacement variable, and able to line it up on the left side instead of the right with the following change from:
    [*]The "Top" button gets placed at the end of the buttons on the right side of the post_controls area, instead of by the "Report" like it was in 2.3.x [*]There is no image associated with it, so it just comes out as words on a button.

    ul.post_controls li.report, ul.post_controls.left li { float: left; } to:

    ul.post_controls li.report, ul.post_controls li.top, ul.post_controls.left li { float: left; } You could then edit the HTML as you see fit to add in your own little image. I ended up with:

    <a href='#top' title='{$this->lang->words['back_top']}'>{parse replacement="top_button"}{$this->lang->words['back_top']}</a> </li>
    <li class='top'>

    And this is the end result: I don't know if I should post it as a "bug" since I don't know if it would be considered as one, but I did do an update to the article bfarber made detailing these extra steps to get that familiar feel back to it.

    I would love to tell you, I really would, but some people take release date estimates far too seriously and will go crazy if we miss an estimated date.

    Yes, we added that in. I wrote a function called IPSLib::wait( $seconds ). We felt that life was moving too fast and wanted to slow it down a bit. We think that huge delays in serving up webpages will be a popular feature. Even Google will do the same one day. Just imagine, having to wait for 5 seconds for your search results. I know, it's a crazy concept but I think many will appreciate it.

    We suggest you think about a loved one or task to do in that 5 seconds. Maybe take a peek out of the nearest window. Your choice, really. We're giving you the gift of time, it's up to you how you spend it.

    The thing is, with this release being RC 1, more people are actually using it in a live environment. Therefore, with much more usage than any of the Betas went through, more bugs are sure to find their way out.

    I will admit though, the staff is doing an excellent job of fixing what bugs are reported, and fixing them quickly.

    We don't try to keep the features different or similar to any other specific product. We try to keep the features in line with what is requested by the majority of our customers.

    However, we are at a beta 4 stage and are not introducing new functionality where possible, so I'm afraid any new features will have to wait until the next version.
