New website!
@Ehren posted a solution here: https://invisioncommunity.com/forums/topic/481895-ic5-search-bar-as-an-icon-only/page/2/#findComment-3010491 (Or maybe you are already using that.)

New website!
I have to agree - the site does look much better. Good job!

I can't find certain topics in the search. Why?
Is the topic older than the limit you have set in the ACP? When I last had access to that section in the ACP, the upper limit was nowhere near what I needed. So, Invision disabled the limit for me.

I can't find certain topics in the search. Why?
@michimachi I do not have access to archiving settings anymore because I had Invision disable archiving for my site - it was ruinous for us because old topics are often searched and provide valuable information. I suggest that you contact Invision and ask them to disable archiving if this is needed for your community. The archiving settings can be located here (edit the URL to match your site): https://example.com/admin/?app=forums&module=forums&controller=settings&tab=archiving

Where is the support channel now?
@michimachi I'm a Cloud customer too. What you see is what you get. The lack of activity here is concerning to me. I now use administrata.net When you have a critical problem, you can post here - and I expect it will receive the appropriate attention from Invision. But given the lack of activity here, you are probably not going to receive the kind of community support you might have received in the past.

CSS Dark Mode
I've added some gradients for shadow effects within a div to help hint at additional content (overflow-y: auto). I looks pretty good. But looks dreadful in Dark Mode. Any suggestions for how I would go about having different CSS for Dark Mode? Thanks.

Edit Bulk Email Template
Ah. I'll search for a string starting with that. Thanks, @Marc.

Edit Bulk Email Template
How do I edit the template to change 'Hi {username}'? I had forgotten that this inserts itself to the email (or of view of the bulk editor). I just sent out an In Memoriam email to the whole membership and the email opens up with, 'Hi Como'. Not really the tone I was going for. I have looked before - I think I even asked here - but the Bulk Email template does not appear to contain what I need to change. Thanks.

Is it possible to reply to user when a post or topic is moderated?
@michimachi This might be just what you are looking for: https://administrata.net/software/item/54-ai-assisted-moderator/ The app nudges the (new) member in the correct direction when posting against guidelines. Thus, avoiding the need to delete the post/topic. This app is something I might well purchase soon - it looks really interesting and probably has many potential uses for us. There is the ability to use AI or not. There are three modes: Keyword; AI; and Hybrid. The app looks powerful enough so that it will work well using just keywords. Alternatively, using in-built IC systems, something we do with topics queued for approval (which do not fulfill our requirements) is to respond to the member there, within the topic. If they edit their opening post, or acknowledge our request, or whatever the problem might be is resolved, we hide (not delete) the additional posts (the moderation discussion with the member) and then approve the topic. This preserves the moderation discussion in case it is needed later for some reason.

Deleting PMs does not Delete to Recipient
I can understand arguments in both directions. But one thing we should also consider is that in the case of an abusive PM, we would not wish to see the PM deleted after the recipient has read it, but before they have had the opportunity to report it. So, for this reason alone, I am in favour of the status quo.

Suggestion: Member alert option when post has been moved with split tool.
Agreed. It does seem like an oversight to not have this included.

Monthly Upload Quota
I'd like to see the ability to set a monthly image/file upload quota per usergroup. Perhaps with the ability to set the number of files and total space allocation for the month (but at least have the ability to set the allowed monthly space). As things stand, when a member hits the limit and requests more, we increase the allowance (for all members in the main usergroup). They then hit the new limit, and so on. New members have the same (vast) limit as long established members - this is very far from ideal. Yes, we could move members between usergroups, but this is messy and far less than optimal. A monthly quota would also lend itself to subscription payments where the monthly allocation is increased over a basic allowance. Com'on - you know it makes sense. 🙂

New website!
There is this Lego community site: https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/forums/ But that's not operated by Lego.

Users can't search for "AI"
I'd prefer to avoid having to keep some kind of list. And some two letter words should be disallowed because of the ridiculous number of search returns this would create. Instead, I suggest including in the search box default text search institutions, '...or UPPERCASE initialisms'. (Or in a short block of text above the search to explain the options available.) This should be done anyway for those many users who do not realize there are more powerful/targetted ways to search available to them.

New website!
As you know, @Ehren posted some instructions for changing this to a magnifying glass icon only. I find it a strange UI decision to instead have what is effectively an enormous button styled as a search field. For anyone who would like to simply their own search button to a magnifying glass, here's Ehren's post: https://invisioncommunity.com/forums/topic/481895-ic5-search-bar-as-an-icon-only/page/2/#findComment-3010491 And this would make even more sense if the search icon was rationalized to just a magnifying glass.

Users can't search for "AI"
That bit I did understand correctly. I regularly make use of quotes to improve search results, both at Invision sites and Google. I am not sure I would default it to quotes at my site. But as say, an option for this would be nice.

Users can't search for "AI"
Ah. I see, @Christian Meixner. I did misunderstand. If, if, Invision would consider allowing two-letter lower limit on capitalizations, as with 'AI', this would go a very long way to fix this and still prevent searches for words like, 'in' and 'to'. Only uppercase matches would be returned. (Assuming there is no technical reason which prevent this, such as the search index cannot be case sensitive.)
-
Users can't search for "AI"
I expect not. But it would be nice if search allowed uppercase two-letter words such as AI - this would go a very long way to resolve this issue for community operators. I can in understand why most two-letter searches might be prohibited (excessive server load vs usefulness).

Users can't search for "AI"
Don't know what to tell you expect that I am an Invision Cloud customer (Creator Pro) and quotes work as expected for me. I just checked; your linked search parameters are incorrect (no use of quotes). Try this instead: https://invisioncommunity.com/search/?&q=%22ai%20search%22&type=forums_topic&quick=1&search_and_or=and&search_in=titles&sortby=relevancy

Users can't search for "AI"
@Christian Meixner @Moestuin I just tried a search for "AI models" at my community and it returned the results as expected. It did not return results for "models".

Spring Update: Changes coming to Invision Community this month
Does Invision envisage a future where there is no ability to add third-party apps? Because that's the same kind of argument made when deprecating features.

Spring Update: Changes coming to Invision Community this month
I am struggling to understand the rationale for closing the Providers Directory page. It is already not enough, but it is better than nothing.

Feature Request: Requiring Prefixes When Making Threads
You'll find that the abilities to assign prefixes via the moderation checkbox system, and move selected topics according to their prefix (again, via checkbox selection) are new. 😉 @tymcio @Gary Thought I should tag you both since you 'liked' the opening post. https://invisioncommunity.com/forums/topic/485538-feature-request-requiring-prefixes-when-making-threads/#findComment-3019968 The app I referenced will probably provide you with what you seek from prefixes.

Feature Request: Requiring Prefixes When Making Threads
Hi @OhSoRy This might be exactly what you seek: https://administrata.net/software/item/55-topic-prefixes/ It is a standalone system - it is not an extension of Invision's prefix system. Although I have not made use of this myself - if you need clarification, contact the developer - there is an import Invision tags to Topic Prefix app prefixes tool. The app allows you to color prefixes You can force selection of a prefix per forum You can assign each prefix to selected forums Users can filter per prefix per forum, aiding discoverability If you wish to merge topics from two more forums at an established community, you can use Invision's moderation checkboxes system to assign prefixes en masse (well, one page at a time) to the topics of each forum before merger with the topics of the other forums. This means that you do not need to manually add prefixes to old topics on a topic-by-topic basis at the original forum or (worse) at the merged forum. The same checkbox system can be used to move/merge topics with a specific tag en masse. And if all moved topics are pre-tagged with a prefix, you can potentially reverse your decision if you find that the forum merger was not the best move, or if a forum outgrows itself and you need to subdivide the content into two or more forums. I have been testing the app for the past few days and I've been impressed with the possibilities. We will be rolling out prefixes soon in a large community reorganization (only made possible by this app). The app works great and I cannot recommend it enough! No, I am not on a commission. 🙂
