You can change it manually by using this:
That is interesting. Can it pull the data from ALL the members instead of going manually one by one?
I have had my site for over 10 years so that would be impossible to update manually.
-
Oh. I see.
Since it did pull all the previous information from the bbpress forum, I assumed it would also pull that "correct" information on the members as well.
-
A couple of members pointed out that the "Join date" on their profile is inaccurate.
It seems like all the dates are pointing to when I installed the platform, in September, while those members had joined the site several years before.
Is there a way to fix that?
I am using SSO plugin to integrate with my WP installation. I am not sure if it is related or if something else should pull the data from WP to display accurate data on the members.
Thanks.

Oh... interesting. I was only selecting Images only. I didn't realize that by having no restriction on the "Allowed file types", I would get the option for the extensions.
That is exactly what I was looking for.

You can allow only certain files from System>Settings>Posting within your admin CP.
I see a way to choose between images, videos, and such, but nothing about file format (like png or jpg). Am i looking in the wrong place maybe? Or is it just not there?

Sorry, I dont understand what you mean there. This isn ot related to allowed file types. What I'm saying is you can set the size of file people can upload on forums. It doesn't matter what type of item you upload, as it's a limit on the storage they can use on that post.
I was just thinking that allowing only jpg files would use less space than allowing png format for the same images. I tell my members to only post jpg, but some either forget or don't read, so the same image takes more space. And yes, I did set a max size per post, but I was hoping it would be simpler to not allow png files than to let the user realize that their image is too big for the allocated max and then realize it was because of the file format.
I can live with that. I just thought it would have been simpler if that option was available.
Thank you.

These would be on a per usergroup basis for files. So edit any group and select the content tab. On there you will see "maximum storage for each submission". You cannot set it per file, only per content item (per post).
With images, you can set from System>Settings>Posting, by setting the maximum file size to save
So there is no way to set the allowed file types if they are all set as images?

Sorry, I realize that I said I set the limit in the forum, but that is for the gallery.
Since there are files in the upload folder that are much larger than that (like 3MB), they are obviously not in the gallery, which is why I suspect members are uploading larger files in the forum. Is there a way to set a limit for file size in the forum too, just like I did in the gallery?
-
I have set up a limit of 300kb per image in the forum. I set that limit for all the groups allowed to post except the admins, who have a 500 kb (but I am the only admin so it is not an issue).
I noticed that, in the upload folder, some files uploaded are way bigger and I suspect they are uploaded to the forum. Is there a way to also limit the file size in the forum? If not, is there a way to add a setting or even a plugin that will resize the files as needed if something too large was uploaded?

Unfortunately this is not possible. An image cannot be associated with multiple categories/albums in the default software.
Thanks for that. I will stop looking for it! 🙂
It might be a good feature to add if anyone else reads this!

If I have an image in a member's gallery, can the same image also appear in other "sub-galleries" without having to re-upload it?
For example, a member might have 10 photos in their own gallery. Then, a challenge is posted and a sub-gallery is created for images meeting certain criteria. If the member has one of his 10 photos meets those criteria, can they show their image in that new gallery other than reposting it?

You can check if you disabled search in ACP -> System -> Applications -> expand System -> check permissions on Search.
Thanks. That is what I needed.

Can you point me to where/how to re-add that search field to the menu bar?
-
Hum... I don't have that "search" field. I might have removed it since only part of my site used Invision (the forum and gallery) and the rest of the 1000+ pages are not. I suspect I removed it as it misled people in thinking they could search the whole site with that.
Maybe I would have to re-add it but specify "search forum and gallery" instead of the generic "Search" to appear in the field. (not sure how to re-add it though)
Any other suggestion?
-
It might be there, but I don't know where. Is there a way to search for a specific member? For example, if I am looking for AnnetteC, is there a way to find that member's profile (so I can see her gallery for example, and more)?

If it's really something you want to troubleshoot
That is probably more than I need. The "Clear Editor" does the work and as long as it is not indicative of something serious under the hood, I can live with that. It is just one click!

BTW - the above is easy to reproduce if you are really, really quick (really quick!!) with closing the page after submitting content but before the JS has run to clear the local storage autosaved content.
What puzzled me is that I would prepare for another response like the next day, so it was not that close.
And yeah, the "clear editor" is what I have used so far. And it might be quite enough anyways.
-
Ok. That seems to work. I guess I was on one member's profile and he had posted in the FORUM and not in the GALLERY so I could not see his images. Would that be possible if he didn't post in the gallery?

You would need to log in again but yes. Chrome's incognito mode functions like a normal browser, just it removes your extensions, cache, cookies, etc...
I'll try next time I need to post responses.

I would suggest trying in incognito to see if it has the same effect.
Can I be incognito and still be logged in?

You would do that on the member’s profile, not in the Gallery.
From what I can see, I can only display their Albums. If they didn't create an album or if they posted in other folders, I can't see their images. Maybe I am not looking in the correct place? Can you guide me?

Although I allow my members to create Member galleries, there are some images that are posted in different categories (sub-galleries). Is there a way to filter or search to see all the images from MemberA or MemberB without having to go through 20 different categories?
-
Not that I know of. I have a handful of Chrome extensions but nothing that relates to that. It is like SOMETIMES, it will save a draft, and spits it back out later, instead of deleting it once the post is published.
-
It has happened several times. Now, I see there is a "Clear editor" link in a yellow bar at the bottom when that shows up. I just click that and it deletes it. I am not sure why it shows up sometimes, and other times the box is blank, as expected, but at least, I found a solution.
