When I was using bbpress, some posts were held for approval as they were flagged as spam. Most of the time, it was accurate and they were spam, but other times, they were legit posts from members.
Does that feature exist in Invision? Is there a filter somewhere to help catch spam? Is there somewhere posts might be held for approval?
Although spam has been rare, it has happened and the posts were mainly reported by my members.
Similarly, on rare occasions, a member will post something (even me) and the post does not show. Is it held somewhere?

Is there a way (or a module) to highlight a post?
Here is the situation: I have long threads where people will post questions for an upcoming Q&A, but the thread also includes comments like "Oh I was also wondering that", or "That question was already answered in this/that tutorial", etc. I would like to be able to highlight the actual QUESTION posts so they are easier to spot.
Is there such a way to go about this?

Thanks.
I thought it would be a simple native function.

I do prepare threads ahead of time, and occasionally, I will publish them before the scheduled time. Usually, it is just a few hours sooner, but sometimes, it can be a couple of days.
Today, I noticed that one such thread that was published before the scheduled date still shows the scheduled date (which is on the 9th). I cannot see where to change that so it would make sense.
Can you point me to where to change the published date?

OK, it turned out that the empty boxes were so faint, I could not even see them! I think I am all set up now.
Thanks.
-
And to follow up, I am also seeing that the new forum section has only a checkbox under the category to "see the forum", but none for "Read topics", "Post new topics", "Reply to topics" so at this point, even my ADMINISTRATOR group can't do anything in that section of the forum.
I am sure I am missing something somewhere.

A couple more questions so I can set this up correctly for my members.
I already have a group called MEMBERS, for all the members and one for LEVEL2, which can access everything PLUS one private section.
I created a group (ABC) and this will be a secondary group to my current members. But the primary group can be MEMBERS or LEVEL2.
I have created a "private" forum that will be only accessible to the ABC members regardless of their primary group.
When I set up the permissions for this ABC group, do I need to show permission for all the other sub-forum or just putting the "private" forum will work since they have a separate primary group?
-
Oh, I see. I thought i had to create a "secondary group" category. Now I see it is at the Member level.
Thanks.

Secondary Groups and Group Promotions should do what you are looking for.
How do I set a Secondary group? (I found the group promo and it would not be what I need)

Thanks for the clarification. 🙂

Can this approach be used to protect individual THREADS ?

Option 2:
- Go to the new topic
- Copy its URL from the address bar
- Go to the old topic
I see, I can do it in reverse from what I was doing. Strangely, it seems like the wrong order to "merge", but if that is the way to do it, I'll do it.
Thanks for the detailed explanation.

The thing is that someone is mistakenly starting a new thread that has only one post instead of adding their post to the thread meant for that purpose. I have told her to copy her post in the designated thread, but either she can't figure it out, or it will happen to others in the future too. How can I move her "post" (which is alone in its own thread) into the "correct" thread?
-
So if I have an orphan post in a thread (say ABC) and want to move it into an existing thread (say XYZ), it should keep the XYZ URL? From the warning I was getting, it sounded like the other way around.
-
I occasionally have members who will start a new thread to post their projects instead of replying to the existing thread for that purpose.
When I try to move/merge those posts into the thread, I am reminded that it will keep the URL/name of the post I am trying to move into the thread instead of just adding the post to it.
Is there a way to do that?
So if I have a thread that is something like /forums/topic/1433-quick-page-workshop-june-2023/
and the "orphan" post started a thread here /forums/topic/1451-my-results-lesson-3-4/
how do I get that "orphan" post/thread into the thread that should be used? Thanks.

OK one "alternative" I found was to add the "popular contributors" block as if I was to customize it. It will show the numbers (faint) so I can take note of them, but then, not save that.

Is there one stat that refers to posts?
-
Hum, it does show some stats, but the most I can get is who has posted in the last month/week but it does not say how many posts each of them had in that time period. I know that those stats are available as "popular contributors", so I just assume the same stats are available somewhere else in the backend so I don't have it visible to all.
-
I would like to get the stats information about the "number of posters", "number of posts", etc. so I can feature some members. I don't want that information to be displayed in a sidebar.
Is there somewhere, in the backend, where I could see those figures for a specific period of time?
For example, who has posted the most in the last month, or what topic has been the most popular in the last week, etc.
Thank you.
-
Thanks.
I have no idea how it happened, but as I checked on the server, the PHP was reverted to 7.4 (instead of the 8.0 it was at). Getting it back to 8.0 solved the problem. Now to figure out why it changed!

I get the same error when trying to access the gallery.
-
I just noticed this warning when trying to access my forum (which is self-hosted):
"We're sorry, but a temporary technical error has occurred which means we cannot display this site right now.
You can try again by clicking the button below, or try again later."I didn't make any changes on the site today. What might have happened? What/where should I look for a fix?

Are posts held for possible spam?

So, would you have an explanation as for why some occasional posts (including mine) will seem to post, but not show up in the thread?
