Do you have FTP access to test it out before I update the file?

EDIT: Sent you a message with the file attached.

Hi, I've downloaded the file and send it to our Webmaster and also I've asked our Webmaster for FTP access to our test site.

  2. @Adriano Faria sorry but I think there's a glitch in your most recent update. I've just installed it on our test site and then on our live site and any time we post it posts a duplicate underneath.

I've disabled it on the test site and that cured the problem I then disabled it on the live site and that cured the problem as well.

    Sorry to bring bad news!

  3. Well our issue seems to have resolved itself at the moment.

I don't know whether this is because it simply sorted itself out or because of an intervention by the Invision team.

I have to say – hats off to the Invision team who responded within minutes after I had posted this new thread.

Clearly if it hasn't been fixed by the Invision team and it simply corrected itself then I've got to try and find out what happened to prevent it happening again.

I wouldn't wish ill on anybody especially not one of my Invision co-administrators – but I'm extremely pleased that @theqkash is experiencing the same problem because that could indicate that there is some larger problem not just us.

  4. Thanks but I have no idea what that means. If it refers to our Twitter auto tweeter then it has been working extremely well for several years so even if that happens to be the problem, there must be some other underlying which has just started to occur – and that will be the root cause

  5. Hi, I've cleared the cache again, disable all plug-ins, disabled all the applications. I've changed the theme to the IPS default although it doesn't seem to register on the front end. But in any event the anything we've modified on the theme is the colours. Nothing else has been modified.

Absolutely no effect on afraid. We can't post. People will read the forum – no problem it's all available but nobody can post anything.

I think we need somebody who understands what they're doing to come in and have a look please

You can reach me on email as well

  6. Hi, we have an urgent situation.

I have no idea what's happened but we are unable to make any new post to any threads or even post any new topics.

Forum seems to be running okay but absolutely impossible to post anything at all and not even to open a support ticket through our forum dashboard.

    Thanks

  7. And while I'm at it, here are some embellishments:

    • There would be a countdown clock - but also the target date and time.
    • The clock would change colour as the deadline approached
    • There could be settings to send automatic email notifications at user-configured intervals before the expiry of the countdown deadline.
    • Other users who were interested could also request countdown notifications from the same timer.
    • The notification would include a link direct to the topic in question.
    • The notification email itself would contain the countdown timer as well.
    • The notification could contain a message configured by each user - such as a link to an ebay auction which is about to end, or a programme which needs to be recorded - or, of course a link to a court's website so that the user can apply for a judgment or file a defence before a certain cut-off date.
    • The notification email could also carry wording configured by admin in the admincp.
  8. Thanks for this reply.

I'm afraid that I don't think that I expressed my suggestion clearly enough.

What I meant to suggest was that an individual user could trigger a countdown timer which would be visible to everybody else who visited the topic.

The timer could be started or modified by the the particular owner of the topic or else one of the site team.

The timer could also no carry a description of what it related to.

I suppose it would be a nice touch if the user could choose to make the timer visible or not visible to the rest of the the forum members  except of course the site team

  9. this is a great idea.

any chance that a   feature could be written in so that timers can be set for individual members.

On our forum we help individuals sue companies - lots of them.  there are many Court procedure deadlines to be met - 14 days, 28 days and so forth.

Being able to set countdown timers at the top of someone's topic thread would be extremely useful and also very popular.  Or else introducing it into their signature or into their profile at the side of each post. Or a choice from all of those three.

  10. Hi, I don't quite understand what you said above I'm afraid. Are you saying that the plug-in is not compatible with the new version 4.6? It's not working for our site.

It's a wonderful little plug-in. I'm amazed Invision hasn't included it natively. If they are trying to get lots of people to adopt their platform for forums then it stands to reason that there will be lots of different tabs open with different Invision forums. So it seems to me to be screamingly obvious that you should be able to configure notification sounds so you know which forum is notifying you.

Invision don't seem to have thought about this – that you have. Bravo.

How can I get it working again please?

    Thanks

  11. Maybe the most suitable solution to the country's problem is to get it to detect the country in which it is being installed and to place a tick in the checkbox for that country. At least it will then be switched on for the majority of people who are using that forum and the administrator can gone to make suitable adjustments for the rest

  12. What I'm trying to explain is that I will would like to configure several categories and have each category viewable only in a particular forum.

So for instance we have a "data protection" forum. I like to have a "data protection" links category that have that visible only in the relevant forum.

We have a "court procedure" forum and I would like to be able to configure a category which appears only in that forum.

That doesn't seem to be possible

  13. Hi, with 4.6, we don't seem to be able to hover over somebody's name and see where they are currently viewing.

    image.png.f6f462d4e4b0d641fa17f7de15da1eb3.png

And this is my imagination, I'm sure that we were able to hover over the online name of any particular user and it would tell us where they were currently viewing.

Is this feature not available now? Or is there something that I haven't correctly configured with the new version?

    Thanks

  14. Thanks.

I think the only thing I don't really understand is for those groups which are configured to view the links directory, where does it appear?

We have a set of sub- forums in our "library". I would want the links directory to appear in those sub- forums and I suppose appear as a separate sub- forum.

I don't want it to appear on the main/home page.

So I would want to be able to place it amongst these sub- forums below

So that it would appear as another subforum in the list:

    Is that possible?
