alfanexus got a reaction from AlexJ in SQLcommand to enable status updates for all members?
Okay I found the solution, so I might as well share it here if anyone else needs this at some time:
The following SQL command will set statusupdates as enabled for all members.
Ans if you want to ensure that new members also has status updates enabled as default, then this great plugin will help with that:

Yes Please I would love that. The other plugin has been removed, and we really need something more.
We use the plugin as main content on a page where it works like a social hub for our community.
    I would really love to:
    1. Be able to set reactions for each status directly on the widget.
    2. And that rich media embeds were shown in the widget
    3. And that there was pagination to show more.
    4. And an settings option to always show comments just as it does in the activity stream for status updates.

It seems that each user has to go into settings to enable status updates. Is there a way to make status updates available for all users without them enabling it manually?

    Hi,
Re storage of personal information (aspects of member data)
Do you think for security and best practice reasons (and Data Protection compliance) that Personal Data* in the form of email address, date of birth (birthday) and possibly IP Address should ideally be encrypted when stored in the IPS database? I noticed they are not encrypted, whereas other items are encrypted although using MD5 which seems out of date.
We hear about website user's personal information being obtained and stolen through hacking of websites and database theft all the time, and site owners are often held to account (in the UK and Europe, not sure about the US) if personal information is stolen or used for fraud or identity theft, especially if it has not been encrypted.
It may be best practice and could strengthen a website owner and end users confidence if a review of what could or should be improved by encryption or stronger encryption, as part of a security audit, Privacy Impact or RIsk Assessment.
Just putting it out there, food for thought.

    * defined as an example by the DPA 1998 as "any data that can be used to identify a living individual and/or sensitive personal data that concerns the subject's race, ethnicity, politics, religion, trade union status, health, sex life or criminal record".

I'm trying to do it before the holidays but just haven't had the spare time yet. Do you have ftp access to your ipb files? If so, I can pass along some patches I've been working on?

    Hi Mike
    Since the dev of
    https://invisioncommunity.com/files/file/7811-advanced-status-updates-widget/
seems to be missing in action, is it possible that you can upgrade this status plugin to allow images, youtube vid and other rich media embeds? I use it as the main social media feed on my site and am badly suffering without it.
    Thank you
Also need a way to view the next 5 etc. like a view more button or pagination or something.  Please

alfanexus reacted to Hexsplosions in Complete profile - make first contribution
I've seen a huge increase in completed profiles since the launch of that feature, however not so much an increase of actual new user participation. Whilst it's great to see more new users taking the time to complete their profiles, this yields little long-term benefit if they don't actually contribute.
I'd like to see the ability to prompt contributions included as part of the 'complete your profile' feature. It could include such options as:
Make a post Perhaps allow admins to configure a forum for this to go in, such as an introductions area Start a blog Upload an image Comment on something Purchase something Upload a file etc. Thanks

Still hoping for this  The widget blocks are very powerfull in making a homepage that just suits every purpose, but a sidewide whats new (forum, blogs, clubs , reactions) widget is really missing. As it is now we have to setup blogs for every single kind og content, and thats messy.

I've just checked on my site. Reactions are present there though they weren't originally in the main entry because I'd made a small change to the template in the past. Now I've reverted, the reactions are there. Have you made any changes to the templates, do you think?

Thanks for the various view points everyone, much appreciated. Some good points there.
There are very steep fines in the UK if the Data Protection Act applies to you as a business or organisation operating in the UK and you don't do everything you reasonably can to safeguard an individual's personal data if you opted to collect and process it and it later becomes stolen or lost, and whether such data was encrypted (where able to do so) as best practice is one of the first things the ICO check.
Just for info if anyone's interested further in the UK legalities:
Anyone who processes personal information must comply with eight principles of the Data Protection Act, which make sure that personal information is:
Personal data shall be processed fairly and lawfully and, in particular, shall not be processed unless –(a) at least one of the conditions in Schedule 2 is met, and(b) in the case of sensitive personal data, at least one of the conditions in Schedule 3 is also met. Personal data shall be obtained only for one or more specified and lawful purposes, and shall not be further processed in any manner incompatible with that purpose or those purposes. Personal data shall be adequate, relevant and not excessive in relation to the purpose or purposes for which they are processed. Personal data shall be accurate and, where necessary, kept up to date. Personal data processed for any purpose or purposes shall not be kept for longer than is necessary for that purpose or those purposes. Personal data shall be processed in accordance with the rights of data subjects under this Act. Appropriate technical and organisational measures shall be taken against unauthorised or unlawful processing of personal data and against accidental loss or destruction of, or damage to, personal data. Personal data shall not be transferred to a country or territory outside the European Economic Area unless that country or territory ensures an adequate level of protection for the rights and freedoms of data subjects in relation to the processing of personal data. Things are changing again next year with the introduction of further EU legislation with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a new law that will replace the Data Protection Act 1998.

alfanexus got a reaction from zoeker in Remove forum name and site name from Title
For anyone else who wish to do this. Here is what I have come up with so far. Its not pretty, but its what I got
    Replace the following in globalTemplate
<title>{expression="output.getTitle( $title )"}</title> With the following if you just want to remove site name:

    {{$cleantitle = str_replace( 'IPS Community Suite', '',$title );}} <title>{expression="output.getTitle( $cleantitle )"}</title>
Or if you want to remove forum name and sitename and blog name..
Warning: This will remove anytning in the title after the first " - " chars in any title. So if a forum title is "This is my title - funny" it will be shortend to "This is my title" So its not perfect but I belive its still better
    {{if array_intersect(array('forums', 'blogs'), $location )}} {{$title = substr($title, 0, strpos($title, " - "));}} {{endif}} <title>{expression="output.getTitle( $title )"}</title> Anyone with a better solution is welcome...

It would be really nice if there would be more blocks / widgets. Especially a widget that could show x items from any activitystream - then we would have a very powerfull widget that could be custimized with the already powerfull activitystreams.
Probably too much to wish for, but here it is:-)
