  1. Stuart did you figure your problems out yet?
  2. In all reality why do your users care if the board is RC? Hide the build info and just have the license info showing, pretty simple fix for that :)
  3. Does it really matter rc3/final? The boards work well now, pretty much minor bugs! Release numbers are nothing special. As long as it's functional that's all that matters imo.
  4. I look forward to this, nice work guys. Good idea!
  5. It always happens, SOMEONE somewhere will re-create the old skin for IPB 3, you know it will happen, just like the car manufacturers created the old style cars with the new technology inside ;)
  6. You trying to upgrade from 3.x.x or 2.x.x?

    IPB RC 2

Upgrade from RC1 > RC2 went smooth as ever, nice work guys!
  8. I think this thread is due to be close, none of you are understanding the reasons for the 'sometimes' slow issues, firstly the forum here is development in progress, secondly as many of the staff have pointed out, the site is been hammered by spiders (search engines for those of you confused ;) ) indexing the boards, the staff are debugging, implementing fixes etc. You will find that there are no problems at all if you are downloading from the client area, if support is so badly needed with a fast response then contact support (for paying customers), your own site will run way faster than here, I know mine does. And I don't believe the problems are with the server hardware, the site will be back upto speed if not faster than before when the 2.x.x boards were on here when they get done. Come on folks, don't continue to moan about the speed until at least they get past the Final build for a few weeks. This is all to be expected, optimization will eventually get up to date.
  9. This kind of site honestly I don't agree with, it's calculating information for EVERYTHING it downloads meaning it's working it's own script to tell you the download time of EVERY single bit of data on a website, which in turn slows it down, second to that who knows what kind of connection/hardware this site is running on? It's funny that it says the page took 12.8 seconds the first time, and a second submit says 9 seconds, obviously rubbish considering I load the pages in just under a second. It doesn't have anything in the cache which all of us do! Granted there are many posts and members on this site, but I think the majority of people on here who complain about speed have no understanding of webservers, ISP's, data etc. It's not just about software and hardware, there are so many factors involved. The server could be hosted in Scotland, and someone in Glasgow (which is in Scotland) with the same connection as myself (25MB) could possibly not load the site as fast as me at times (I'm in Arizona now), too many factors involved. It's just not as simple as some of you think! An example, just another site, using multiple geographic servers with DIFFERENT speeds, not one of which is over 11 seconds (none over 9 infact) and check out the two 5MB connections Bejing loads it faster than Detroit, loading faster than faster connections closer to the server. Current Time: 06/11/2009 04:46:55 Again I think these test are pretty inaccurate, although the above page loads do not include the CACHE for this site either, so they are pretty damn fast loads!
  10. Very nice to know, now all we need to see is +Active Customers on your profile :D IPB is the way forward. Although I must say, the members over at VB were probably used to the original staff & owners, things can turn upside down in a heartbeat if new owners don't try to make things better, yet instead are less active and less understanding. I've seen big Demolition companies (I do demolition) go under and fail bringing new owners and CEO's on board, no matter what kind of business you have, if you don't offer the right help and services, it's an EPIC FAIL! :D
  11. No way, I mean even though it's still the current release, using IPB 3, makes IPB 2 look like an ancient forum if you know what I mean  - IPB 3 all the way! No I have to admit, all I miss are the mods and skins, it will only be a matter of months from final for them to come!
  12. Hopefully before my birthday, if it's not I'll be so sad, I'll cry at my birthday party at Peter Piper Pizza (YUK) haha (NO I'M NOT REALLY EATING THERE, the pizza tastes like rubber).
  13. Honestly, the site had very few errors, and I was all over here when they upgraded, just goes to show they release GOOD software :P Why setup a beta when the customers can see first hand what they can expect from a beta release? It really did have few issues, and what better way to test the software than to have prospective buyers/forum admins test it in mass numbers. I would show off my hard months of work this way too, I think it's a more personalized approach with the customers.
  14. You can only test moderation on your own boards.
  15. Come on my little darlings I know RC2 is near :D
  16. You got's money man, I just upgraded from the Post Office wire to a 14k modem, and I upgraded my web server to a 486 DX4!
  17. I'm not saying it will go to rc4 because I'm not a dev, I just feel it could, the higher the RC get's the more people will probably want to upgrade and try it fearing crashes/problems with the upgrade etc, thus meaning more server configs and more bugs, if it doesn't go to RC4 I would expect a good number of releases close there after the final (to fix bugs). It's not like the RC release is that bad, I personally don't have too many issues so I'm lucky, then again as I said I'm not a developer so I don't play with the coding too much or the dev features. Although looking at the 'Final Release' it will be a positive thing for IPS showing they released a VERY stable Final release. :) I'm happy as can be so far with RC1, can't wait for more improvements.
  18. I don't doubt seeing RC4 - at the end of the day RC releases are offered with many potential bugs, the more people that use it the more chance of finding bugs, I guarantee people who use THIS forum here don't report all the bugs, yet when they download it and find the same bug on there own site they are the first to report it :P Not saying they are in the wrong, but not everyone understands errors and what they mean. I congratulate the IPS team for getting the RC2 build up and running live here, good job, I couldn't imagine fixing the amount of bugs you guys do, I would be bald already. :D Bring on the download :D:D
  19. Maybe clear your cache, history etc? Works fine for me.
  20. I agree having the information stored for reasons why a member get's a warn/suspension etc, that way other mods know the reasons. I have not played with it yet though so I'm unsure.
  21. Imagine how big the db would become if it individually logged every single view! It would have to log the views by IP/User etc, would become GB's in size within a few days. Just knowing how many times it's been viewed is generally a good base for most. Your site would become so slow with such a huge amount of data in the db. Terabyte told me he is gonna do a tutorial to not count search engines which would help me out a lot. Personal preference I guess.
  22. That's cool Matt thanks, no rush, nobody seems to be having issues it just appears every day in the ACP.
  23. No I believe they can connect to facebook, my thought is that the member emailed me from the board and got an error message, which I believe is already in the tracker as a reported bug for emails and pm's although they still get sent. I don't know what the above error code is and why I have those logs in my ACP many times a day. I'm probably not making sense? I explain things in a bad way.
  24. Please close this thread if I'm missing something in the search or tracker, but a few members have emailed me saying they are getting errors which they don't understand, I've asked for more info but while I wait for it to happen again I checked my logs, there was nothing in the server log files but checking in the ACP log files these are the only errors I get on a daily basis, what are they about? and what is error code "32767"
  25. A little cat was purring some info about giving it to me for an early birthday :P
