    martin-al reacted to The Old Man in Suggestion - team icons that are skin based
    Unfortunately team icons are board based and not skin based - crazy isn't it?

    If you install some nice team icons, they show up in all of your installed skins, but they may not match the appearance of all those skins.

    Imagine some nice Christmas skin themed team icons looking rather odd when viewed by someone who is using a non-Christmas skin, or white/bright team icons from a white/bright skin showing up automatically on a black skin.

    So my suggestion is to make team icons a folder in the skin images. :rolleyes:

    I would love to see more attention put into the reputation system. Some suggestions:

    1. Make people spread reputation around before being able to give the same person reputation again and allow the admin to set the number needed before they can give the same person rep again in the ACP.

    2. The ability to disable a specific members ability to give reputation.

    3. The ability for the admin to be able to change someones specific post reputation. I have had members accidentally give a member a negative point and they wanted to change it, but as an Admin, I am unable to do so.

    4. The ability to leave comments about the reputation that only the person receiving it can see.

    5. The ability to see where you got your reputation point from, and who gave it to you. Even better would be to have a setting so you can allow people to only see who gave them positive of negative reputation.

    No, he brings up a very good point. I'm planning on using IP.Board for my next version of my website which I'm currently working on with IP.Content. However, I'm using PHPBB3.0 on my current site and I've always found PHPBB super easy to upgrade. I download a small upgrade package and then run the update from the admin backend and it's done in just a few minutes.

    Uploading 2,500 files isn't very efficient, especially when the FREE competition is able to do it faster and easier.

    I don`t know if this is happening only to me or not, but everytime i open a ticket i receive a response in not less than 48h.
    It is very frustrating when i have some little issue that can be fixed in 5 min and i have to wait 2 days for an answer.
    Usually i resolve it myself after some research.

    You definitely have to review your support service, isn`t this why i pay 25$ every 6 months?

    Looking at your most recent tickets:

    608369: We waited for you to accept our disclaimer, which you eventually refused to do and closed the ticket yourself.
    606915: We responded about 4 hours after the ticket creation.
    604629: We responded about 40 minutes after the ticket creation.
    603845: We initially responded about 15 minutes after the ticket creation, and then you replied on a Saturday, and even then we got back to you about 8 hours later.

    In fact, I can't see any tickets that have been open anywhere near 48 hours. I see one that is open now, but that was also only created yesterday.

    Am I missing something? If you can provide the ticket IDs for the cases your referring to where you've had to wait, we can see what's going on.

    I just wanted to give kudos to the staff for all of their work on the new board.

    We have a forum which carries a visual theme which we have kept with since the version 1.x days. Despite the skin changes that came with 3.0, we have found that skin development time was cut in half to bring our look into line with the previous layout while still keeping the improvements that were made to the software.

    Our migration strategy ended up being especially fun, as we migrated to a new domain at the same time as we were applying the upgrade. The only real issues that we had in our first test run were related to not uninstalling mods in the old structure before upgrading. As long as you turn off all mods installed with the Universal Mod Installer and ensure all forums and members are set to the "use board default" skin choice before running an upgrade, things go smoothly.

    We have been live for 24 hours now on 3.0.3, and have had ZERO complaints,,, in fact we have had quite a few positive comments about all of the improvements both us and IPB have made.

    Kudos again to the IPB Development team - you took an impossible task and came up with a product that blows away the competition!

    Disagree entirely with the auto-update. It's just too much of a security risk for IPB to have write access to executable files. Think about it. What happens if someone finds a security hole in IPB? They then have the ability to upload files to the disk of the server in writeable locations! How about if someone manages to exploit IPS' server itself (it's happened before)? Well, they can then deploy an "upgrade" to IPB which deploys malware to tens of thousands of web servers across the globe!

    Down with auto-update.

    If you had an active license (for 2.3) you didn't have to buy a new license to upgrade to 3.0..

    martin-al reacted to pisaldi in A need: which are the new phrases in upgrades ?
    Hi!

    I manage a multilanguage board...

    What I need to know in each upgrade, is ALL the changes that has been done in ALL upgrades...

    What I mean is you give us a list indicating for example:

    System --> public_search --> actperiod_week (first page)
    System --> public_search --> actperiod_today (first page)
    System --> public_search --> actperiod_month (first page)
    System --> public_search --> actperiod_weeks (first page)
    System --> public_search --> actperiod_year (first page)

    and so on...

    This would be very useful for updating our translated languages...

    This would be fantastic if you make in future updates...

    Thanks in Advance

    martin-al reacted to TrixieTang in Quick PM should have a "Use Full Editor" link
    Currently if you go to someone's profile and try to send them a PM, if you decide you need all the editor options you don't have them, and there isn't a way to get to them short of copying what you typed so far, going to your messenger, typing in the name of the member, and pasting what you had written...

    There really needs to be a link on the "Quick PM" popup like their is on the fast reply, "Use Full Editor" which keeps what you'd written, who you're sending it to, and takes you to your messenger to send a PM with access to all the editor options.

    Honestly, it was never our intention to make anyone feel 'second-class'. We just introduced a new service to help combat spam. If there's enough demand for a separate pay-for service then we'll be foolish to not consider it. Please understand that we value all our customers and will always take on any feedback that's given.
