  1. http://mwadetest.invisionzone.com/IPB3.pdf is sort of "what's new" booklet of the best features.

A lot of new features were also discussed in the blog over the past year, so you may want to look through the archives: http://forums.invisionpower.com/blog/archive/1174-ips-company-blog/

  2. You should beware that there is no technical support for the RC - so if you experience a problem and you are unable to fix it yourself, you'll be out of luck.

With that in mind, I personally, would wait until final.

  3. Applications and modules go together. An application is an addon to the board, and is made up of modules.
For example, Blog, Gallery, Downloads and the bug tracker we have here are applications.

Hooks on the other hand, modify the behaviour of an existing area area of the board, or add some kind of functionality to an existing module.
In 2.x we referred to these generically as "modifications" and they often required file edits.

  4. Ditchmonkey, thanks for the positive feedback. It's great to know that we're able to provide you with a standard of service you're pleased with - we know how important these things are and we appreciate all the tickets, calls and topics like this from you guys telling us we're doing a good job.

Although, I really don't think it's appropriate to start making digs at Jelsoft here, they get enough of that on their own forums.

  5. I probably check the client download area more than I should, hoping that it will be available there and no one over here had noticed yet. Yes, I am a release client stalker- I admit it. I watch the bug tracker, and read all the threads hoping for a glimmer of hope....

Its almost like Christmas anticipation! Gosh I sound like a dweeb....

    Pro tip: RSS ;)
  6. Just off the top of my head, one reason I've seen is some forums have a redirect forum at the very top of their forum lists that redirects to the registration form. This is only shown to guests, and so, of course, you would not want admins to see it.
Some people also hide their trash can as they have no interest in it unless they actually need to get something out of it.

  7. You can submit a ticket to sales for custom services - it is something we could no doubt improve on, but do feel free to contact us - if it's not something we can do we can normally point you in the direction of someone who can.

  8. Congratulations!!!

When can we expect a changelog? And what's more interesting - a file available to be downloaded? :)

You can probably work out judging by the average time it takes in between when we upgrade here and when we release :)
You can see in the bug tracker there are a few issues outstanding - then it'll go through QA before being released.

    Changelog so far:

  9. Just delete anything except:

    - conf_global.php
    - style_x
    - uploads

Before uploading the IPB 3 files.

And then after the install is complete, delete the style_x folders (the contents of which I believe get copied to the new place in the installation)

  10. Meh - the phpBB3 converter is ready... I suppose I could build a release for you... you'll be the first person to use it though so expect a couple of bugs ;)

It's is on my work computer - so I'll get that for you at some point tomorrow.

  11. The converters will be available when IPB3 goes final - but I've only written one for phpBB3 (seems pointless to write converters for such old software).

So; you could either use the existing converters to convert phpBB2 --> IPB 2.3, and then upgrade to IPB3 -or- you would upgrade to phpBB3, then when the converters are available, convert to IPB3.
The former seems like it would be the easier option :)

  12. Yes it is; but as per the forum rules at the top of this page: this is not the place to ask. You can obtain support via the client area, or you can try to obtain peer-to-peer support at IPS Resources.

  13. It would be nice if ipb could release the subscription manager before the final so that it could actually be tested before putting it into a "production" release.

When has any member of staff said it wouldn't be ready for final?

This would further delay IPB 3 - were still awaiting beta releases of Gallery and some of the other components - subscription manager is now a community project.

That is wrong. We have every intention of releasing subscriptions manager with IP.Board 3.0 before handing it over to the community... Matt has been working on it for a while.
  14. Yes, we received that message Mon 18 May 2009 05:07:13 PM EDT, the message I quoted was sent after that, Tue 19 May 2009 04:22:22 AM EDT.

Anyway, I've acknowledged that the issue isn't resolved and re-opened to the ticket - it should get addressed for you on Monday :)

  15. The last response I see was Tue 19 May 2009 04:22:22 AM EDT:

    Hello,

I've changed the email and password for you so this should now work.

    Regards,
