Invision Community 5.0.4 Beta 1 is now available

Please celebrate responsibly.

A whole two weeks has passed since our last release. The extra week allowed us to fully review a few larger updates that we've held back and require a beta or two to fully test before we're happy to include in a full release.

Things to test

There have been some areas that have received a lot of attention and need extra special testing, these include:

• Page Editor (now works correctly for right-to-left languages but needs some testing in LTR)

• Custom badges (lots of work to make them more efficient and store a built version in SVG format)

• Editor bug fixes (lots of complex fixes, so please test the editor thoroughly)

If you want a full list of changes, you can see that here. The release notes also have some changes which may impact third party developers.

Using Betas

If you do not see an upgrade, it means that you do not have betas enabled.

Invision Community Cloud

Cloud customers can opt-in to betas in the client area.

Invision Community Classic

Self-hosting customers can either download the release from the client area, or add the following line to constants.php

define( 'USE_DEVELOPMENT_BUILDS', TRUE );

If you do not have this file, create it in a text editor, so the contents looks like:

This is so transformative for Pages. Thank you to @Esther E. for taking the time with me to understand the use case for it. I can now build a News front page from stock IPS without having to build custom blocks.

I take it that this is just labelled as a Beta but will still update as normal via admin on 5.0.4?

The custom emoji is now clickable but still very small when selected >

Can all the phone emoji be turned off yet as this is the problem I think, all custom emoji is displaying the same size as the phone emoji

No, leave it.

Tag manager is a welcome addition, but it is causing browsers to hang when trying to type a tag.

That said, I have 71 pages of tags to manage.

There's no good solution to this. We had a bug report that some tags weren't showing in the list... because it was limited to 100 items, and the admin was looking for the 101st tag. 🤷‍♀️

What's weird is if I don't type and just scroll, it doesn't hang the browser. It only hangs if I manually type the tag I'm looking for.

@Matt Downloading the developer tools downloads a 0-byte file. I tried with 2 different browsers. 👀

Does this take a while to communicate to your server?

I added it to my file, but it still says I'm up to date.

You need to either wait for the update check task to run, or manually check for updates under ACP > Applications.

Spoke too soon. Posts in one of my main forums are completely inaccessible after the upgrade.

Has the X embed background colour in light mode been fixed in this beta? Where it’s a huge full width black block. It’s the one thing that’s bugging me and would push me to install a Beta on my live site 🙈

It was happening on here too, and checked my test post. It seems no longer to have the issue
