I mean l want to be able to post something but no one else can read it, or a member can post several things and no one can see it except mod/admin of course.

Messed about with permissions but that doesn't do it. help!

This is a test section, l want private for anyone who uses it.

How did you mess up with the permissions? If they are set up correctly you should be able to achieve what you are asking for.

Ok, tried it, but it just gave me an error message, or an Opps not allowed as a member so it didn't seem to work?

I want each member to be able post something but other members cannot see it.

ACP > Community > Forums > select Edit next to a specific forum > Forum Settings > Users can see topics posted by other users?

Could contain: Page, Text, File, Webpage

Then go back to the forums listing and select Permisssions from the dropdown menu. Set for all groups:

  • See Forum
  • Read Own Topics
  • Post New Topics
  • Reply To Topics

ACP > Members > Moderators / Administrators > if set to "Restricted" under Forums tab enable Can view all topics/questions?

Could contain: Page, Text

Nope, last part with giving the admin, etc permissions to see them is fine, but for the life of me l cannot find the button you mentioned.

Could contain: File, Text, Computer Hardware, Electronics, Hardware, Monitor, Screen

You are checking a wrong place (global forums settings). I refer to the forums listing:

Each forum is configured separately:

Could contain: Text, Page

Note that Categories do not have the option and you need to expand them and check normal (Sub)forums.

Ok, finally found it, (kept clicking on Categories instead of sub categories).

Thanks Luuuk  appreciate it.
