Blank Page after upgrade to 4.7.6

Hello,

Luckily this is my test site, not my live one. Anyway, previously I was on 4.7.2 running PHP 7.4 and with three third party apps/plugins flagged as problems for PHP 8.

Okay, I deactivated those 3rd party apps/plugins, switched to PHP 8. Ran the compatibility file, all good. I had to deactivate a 4th app though that had a problem only when I visited the forums index. But basically all was ready to upgrade.

I downloaded the 4.7.6 zip file from here, all good. I uploaded the content via FTP, very slow upload as I'm basically overseas on the road, but eventually all was uploaded and no error message from the FTP program.

I ran the upgrade with no problem, got the confirmation and the option to go to the ACP or the site. Three apps were locked by the scanner (including one which had not been flagged before nor did I had a problem running it on 4.7.2 with PHP 8), but anyway, all good on the ACP and I still have access to it.

Go to see the front side, and all I get is a blank page. I disabled all 3rd party apps and plugins but I still get a blank page.

I'm wondering whether to reupload all files again. It was painfully long the time it took the first time and nothing indicates it will be faster a second time, as I'm stuck with whatever internet connection I have.

Any ideas please?

Actually I found the server errors logs in CPanel, and there's nothing from today (after the upgrade) either.

It has two parts, in the one that says Latest web server error log messages: the latest error is from yesterday and concerning another subdomain.

And in the part that says Latest suEXEC event log messages: it has some entries from today like:

[2023-01-11 11:32:37]: uid: (1003/xxxxxx) gid: (1005/xxxxxx) cmd: ea-php80

(I've replaced here the account name with x's, and I don't know if those are from before or after the upgrade. Not sure if they have any relevance or if they are just entries)

I would suggest contacting your hosting provider to assist in obtaining the 500 Internal Server Error log. Often, these can be outside of cPanel, depending on the host.

Okay, I'll try. Thanks.

Hi Jim, this is what they sent me:

I made the permissions identical to the index.php file of my live site which is 644, but unfortunately that hasn't solved the problem.

We would need to look further into this for you, however the access details on file appear to be incorrect or missing. Could you please update these details by visiting your client area, selecting the relevant purchase, then clicking "Review/Update Access Information" under the "Stored Access Information" section.

We look forward to further assisting you.

Sorry for that, I have saved them again and logged in to the ACP with them successfully. Please try again. Thanks.

There is a fatal error being thrown with the reviewsystem application, despite it being disabled unfortunately

Okay, it's not the sort of app I can uninstall as I'd lose all the content. You reckon that if I upgrade it, that could solve the problem? (I would need to ask the author for a new version in any case for it to work with 4.7.6, so no harm in trying I guess).

Only the author can answer that question, but yes it should do. The issue is that its not compatible with PHP 8

Okay, thanks Marc. I have already contacted the author. Cheers!
