Management Matt Posted October 3, 2022 Management Share Posted October 3, 2022 Last visit is not the same as last activity. When a user's session is active, we update the last_activity column. When the user's session times out, or when they come back for the first time, we update last_visit time with the last_activity time. It does look a bit odd when the sessions are so close, so perhaps we can do something being mindful of anonymous logins. David N.
I am also seeing this in my community, for example a user last visited 33 minutes ago but posted 9 minutes ago. Or here's another example: Afrodude
Marc
Have a read of what Matt wrote just above your post there. As mentioned, they are not the same and not really updates at the same time. The last visited is updated when the session times out or someone logs in, which in this case was 1 hour ago
David N.
Yes, I read what @Matt wrote. I understand the technical reason behind the behavior. I also agree with Matt that it looks odd (to say the least), and I am hoping that a better solution can be implemented. IMO the profile page should say "online now" until the user's session times out. I don't suppose there should be a privacy concern since we can already see "online now" in the user's hover card anyway? Afrodude
