bassangler Posted May 4, 2022 Posted May 4, 2022 (edited) A few weeks ago, I set the archive to 7 years. The process completed within days. However users are still finding and posting on decades-old threads such as this one today: Why aren't the pages archived? Edited May 4, 2022 by bassangler
bassangler Posted May 5, 2022 Author Posted May 5, 2022 IDK what's going on, but it appears the archive function is actually deleting posts. I have a lot of "We could not find that topic." errors in my logfiles now. So I turned it off.
Marc Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 Archiving will work over time. Its not something that will happen instantly. When was it you switched this on?

Jim M Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 I guess my question is, what was your recognition of that the process was complete? Typically, this would happen slowly in the background so there would not be a task like many other items that you could see "completes." It also, depending on the size of your community and your settings, could have a lot to crawl through and would do topics in batches so you may see some topics archived but others have not yet been processed.

I looked at the main dashboard and it didn't show any processes running. If an archive process is running, it should be showing that it's running. Doesn't make sense that it wouldn't.

bassangler Posted June 3, 2022 Author Posted June 3, 2022 6 weeks after setting it to "7 years", people are still posting on 15yr-old topics. My forums aren't that big. So....is the process really that slow? Should I wait several months?
Marc Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 Do you have an example topic I can take a look at that people are still responding to? Also could you confirm if any at all are being archived?
bassangler Posted June 3, 2022 Author Posted June 3, 2022 Just sent a PM. I cannot find any that are archived.
Marc Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 I would need another example. That topic would not fit the criteria as the last post was not more than 7 years ago
bassangler Posted June 4, 2022 Author Posted June 4, 2022 Huh? The thread was from 2006. Nobody had posted on it since, until 2 days ago - 15 years later. If it had been archived, nobody should have been able to post on it, right? As mentioned above, the archive process started 6 weeks ago. That topic should have been archived, ergo that recent post should not have been possible on a 15 year old topic. But at any rate, I just PM'd you a topic from 2004. Go ahead and post on that then. It should be archived, but it's not.
bassangler Posted June 4, 2022 Author Posted June 4, 2022 The first link I sent you was an example of somebody who was able to post on a 15 year old topic that should've been archived. Just had somebody moments ago post on a 9-year old topic. Clearly archiving isn't working.
