Li3D Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Hi, it could be practical to put quotes into edit field when opened instead of reply field, no ?
Robert Angle Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 You can edit the quote once it appears in the Editor (i.e. "reply field").
Nathan Explosion Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 I believe what is being reported is the following scenario: Reply to a topic Edit your post Now, attempt to quote something from a prior post The quoted text goes in to the reply field at the bottom, and not in to the post which is currently being edited.
Robert Angle Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Ah I get it. And I should have paid better attention to the screencap he provided as well. Yes, it would be practical for quotes to go to the posting being edited while editing is enabled. That would save time over copy and pasting things manually.
opentype Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 I get the point, but what’s the use case for it? I’ve never noticed this behavior, since there is never a case where I would want to do that. If I edit a post as a user, I usually make minor corrections, like correcting a typo. If I make changes as admin, I usually remove stuff, e.g. a questionable link. I wouldn’t want to add anything substantial to existing posts. That would be highly confusing in the flow of the discussion.

If that would happen on my site, I would put a paragraph in my ToS, explaining why such major changes to existing posts are not a good idea and then point people there.
