ahc Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 I'd like to suggest that separate permissions be added for things that may need moderator approval. I'd rather only certain moderators and/or administrators have access to approve files in downloads for example. If this already exists, I'm having trouble finding it. It's not about trusting moderators, because I trust everyone on my team, it's more so to help delegate tasks and eliminating unnecessary permissions given to specific staff groups based on their intended roles.

In Moderator you add by member so give permission via that not sure if help.

When editing moderators in the AdminCP, if you deselect the global options under the "Content" tab, then you can choose individual options under the various application tabs (which will be hidden by default and show up when you remove the global permissions under the Content tab). So it sounds like you just need to set up your moderators individually in the AdminCP, then edit each one to choose what they can do.

Unless I'm blind or it's not obvious, I don't see a global permission under Content for approving items held for moderator approval. I unchecked all to view what permissions would come up and none of the new options allowed me to give specific permission to an individual moderator group to approve new files uploaded to downloads.
Joel R Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 The setting for "Files must be approved" is located in each Download category's settings. Go to ACP > Community > Downloads, click on settings for a category, click on Submissions tab. Remember that you can also use the "Copy Setting Value" to mass apply the new setting (be sure to save first) to all download categories to be lazy smart.
ahc Posted February 26, 2019 Author Posted February 26, 2019 Okay I'll re-explain myself. All files, regardless of section, must be manually approved before they are displayed in the marketplace for security reasons in my community. Leadership require staff to download the file to make sure it is the file being advertised and to also make sure it is safe to the best of our ability. Currently, all moderator and administrator groups have permission to view and approve uploaded files sitting in the queue. I do not want them to. I do not care about them approving other content, but I do not want them to have the permission to approve files. I have removed the ability for most groups to download paid files without purchasing as it makes no sense for the entire staff team to have this permission when we designate specific mods/groups to do this. It also eases the minds of members knowing they won't have x amount of people pilfering through their for-profit files for free. It would make more sense for me to be able to also remove the ability to approve files from the same groups who do not have the download permission. They do not need to be able to approve files and I want to avoid having files approved that were not checked.
bfarber Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 "Can hide files" and "Can unhide files" are the permissions you're after.

I had a suspicion those were the permissions. So if I uncheck can hide/unhide files under content and set them individually per moderator group under downloads, only the groups with those individual permissions can approve the files?

Yes, if you remove that permission globally for moderators who you don't want to be able to approve files, then add it in the individual areas except for Downloads (e.g. let them hide/unhide topics, posts, blog entries, etc.) then they will be able to approve content everywhere but in Downloads.
