AlexWebsites Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 My datacenter just sent me this so sharing...if you are running memcached, you may want to take a look. I switched to redis and am taking memcached off my server. https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2018/02/in-the-wild-ddoses-use-new-way-to-achieve-unthinkable-sizes/
RevengeFNF Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 You just need to block udp port 11211 or update to memcached 1.5.6.
hjmaier Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 Never ever install a service without blocking it‘s port from the outside or limit it to listening only to localhost Sorry that I have to say that, but this is basic knowledge for a server admin.
ASTRAPI Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 Better to update to memcached 1.5.6 so you don't have to worry about the firewall in any case that you may need to disable it for a reason or to forgot it as disabled
