It will be in phpmyadmin.

Do you not see a list on the left of the databases ? (there will be one or two in addition to your own, depending on your configuration)

There are a bajillion ways.

It has to be in phpmyadmin, are you expanding the tables by clicking the plus signs?.  There you can export or even copy a database. For export, I usually use custom and add drop tables.

I often keep a spare copy on the server with no user attached also.  This can be made in  phpmyadmin also under operations.  You can immediately put it into use by adding a user and and editing your conf_global file.  Just always make certain the size matches after you are done copying it,

You will find this spare database copy listed under both phpmyadmin and mysql databases.  I always add copy to the name to avoid confusion,

Is there a backup option in your cpanel? If you use the "real" cpanel it should be there. Then, "Download a MySQL Database Backup"  I am certain plesk etc would have similar functions.

The download from backup is a special form of a zip file (gzip) that you need a special program to extract the sql if you want to look over it.  The ones from PHPmyadmin are uncompressed.

Plus either you or your webhost should have automatic scheduled backups performed regularly.  In a bind either of you can restore.  If you use WHM, you can schedule this very easily.  My backups are like 60 GB!  Yeowza!

There are even more ways if you have root access, but lets not delve into that yet.

my forum database isn't here...(the database name in the conf_global.php file isn't listed on phpmyadmin or database backup even though the forum is up on the same domain just on /forum/)

See the plus signs on the far left?  Click on them to expand the table listings.  Then click on the appropriate database.  Then you will see the structure.

I don't think you're understanding my question (not trying to be rude at all, perhaps im not quite understanding what you mean). The database for my forum isn't showing up on the left list. The left list are the database, and everything under the plus signs are tables.

I need my entire database in order to backup it. Perhaps I am misguided, but I am very uncertain as to why it is not showing up in the left hand table. (For example, lets say my database name is "rogerdb", and "rogerdb" isn't showing up in the left hand side of databases.)

My IPS4 database should be showing up in phpmyadmin, its under the domain name.

Yes you are confusing things.  Up above the listings with a plus sign is a box called recent tables.  This will show tables you have explored recently.  It will be blank if you haven't looked at any.  Just an easy reference box.  Pay no attention to this, in fact, I never do in all my years.

Those things with a plus sign next to them....  One should be your cpanel user name,  This is where you need to look.  Click the plus sign and you will see your database.  Trust me...

Have you tried contacting your web hosting company for support?  Could be a permissions problem as to why you are not seeing it - either wrong username/password (are you hosting multiple sites?) or the user you are logging in with doesn't have permission to view the database.

I decided to install phpmyadmin through the file manager and access it through http://mysite.com/phpmyadmin, logged in, and BOOM. My freaking database is there. WTF.

So....here's my next problem. I'm trying to export the entire database as a zipped file. However, it never downloads and loses connection?? I just need to export my database as a zipped file ;_;

Sorry it is difficult since i can't see what you are seeing.

The next problem is a resource issue.  Are you in shared hosting or do you have root?  If it is shared, contact your webhost and tell them you don't have enough resources to download a backup.  See what they say...  Rolls eyes contemplating their answer.  LOL...

Keep in mind that you will struggle some issues with this.

AS example if you have plugins installed which are getting removed between the time of the copy and the usage of the copy it can may happen that there some errors on the plugins page. You should also take care if there is any sensitive data saved which are required running IPS, like lets say default Application version numbers.

A copy alone wont help you as long as you dont zip and actually download the current state of your forum to avoid these issues.
