Trevor Carey Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 how is it done in 4.0? when Youtube links are pasted into a forum post, how does one get the video to embed and appear? I thought it would be automatic.
Trevor Carey Posted July 15, 2015 Author Posted July 15, 2015 It is. Just paste UTube link Then why is it not happening here? see photo.
Trevor Carey Posted July 15, 2015 Author Posted July 15, 2015 After you post link, hit enter.I've done that, it still doesn't embed.Testing it here.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63aifWlQze0
Ralf Herrmann Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 I've done that, it still doesn't embed. Testing it here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63aifWlQze0 If it doesn’t work for you both here and on your own site, it seems the problem is cause on your end. So you put the cursor on an empty line, paste the raw plain-text URL copied from the browser bar, and then immediately hit enter? That would be the correct procedure. If that doesn’t work anywhere, do you have any browser plugins installed, which might interfere, e.g. JavaScript blockers?

I use Firefox - I'll have a look to see if any browser plugins would be interfering here.

Above, I see post from Ralf as embedded video. Why is this?
chilihead Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 It's wonky. I can get it to embed and not change anything just paste the same.
Nathan Explosion Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 An important distinction needs to be pointed out here:if you copy a plain text URL from an address bar and paste it in, does it embed for you? (It should)if you copy an already converted link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63aifWlQze0 and then paste it in, does it embed for you? (it shouldn't)
Trevor Carey Posted July 15, 2015 Author Posted July 15, 2015 I click on the address bar on the browser, highlight the YouTube url. I press Ctrl C and then in forum I press Ctrl V, and hit Enter. When I do this, it is not embedding.
Nathan Explosion Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 In that case, please refer to the following post I put up in a previous thread for the same issue for someone else: If you see the same behaviour as that post then I highly recommend a ticket to support and reference the thread so they clearly understand the issue.
Oyabun2012 Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Don't know what you guys are doing haha, I use chrome, works like a charm
ctrlbrk Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 This seems similar to the @mention problem. Many times I type @username but don't get the popup, and therefore it isn't linked. This YT problem seems similar, something isn't working inside the editor. I am not sure why things aren't parsed on save, I'm coming from vb and don't understand the IPB logic fully. Just by the fact that post exists, there is clearly a problem. The link is correct, so there is a failure somewhere -- and the user cannot be blamed.
Trevor Carey Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 Seems to be working now. Paste the url, hit ENTER and wait. This was not working for me up to now....
Trevor Carey Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 How does one change the size dimensions of an embedded video?
kotaco Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 I have the same issue with any content:- @ mentions take forever to load or just dont. A line break seems to fix or break it too.- YT videos hit or miss.- Images hit or miss.- Topic embeds hit or miss. All attempted with unformatted links and reported by multiple members on an active forum
Trevor Carey Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 It’s a global setting. I've set that to 500 pixels, but videos are still stretching the full width of the page.
Ralf Herrmann Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Please read the description in the screenshot.
