Hide users email addresses?

Hi is it possible to enable users to hide their email addresses from members being able to view them?

That is the default anyway.

Email address is visible only to Staff members.

I think the only way to allow users to show their email is to add a Custom Profile Field and allow them to fill it out.

Why on earth would you make anyone's email visible?

To get people drowned in spam?
