an add-on i want to install says i need to upload content to IPS root folder

where is this at? which one do I go to? see attach

 

 

Would be better to use FTP as if you use File Manager you're going to have to manually place each file into the correct folder (which is a pain)

I recommend using FileZilla as (1) Its free and (2) its easy to use, you can just drag / drop to upload. https://filezilla-project.org/

You want the 'Client' version not the Server version.
