Apfelstrudel
Hello,do we have a thread or document where the correct upgrade procedure from one IPS4 to the next is explained in a detailed way?Today we had a bug upgrading from 4.0.1 to 4.0.2 because we've overwritten a directory by mistake. All threads I've found are for upgrades between v3 or v3 to v4 but none for v4 to v4.We just want to have a description which directories and files we have to leave on the server. Thanks in advance. steve00
basically same as earlier versionsunzip your download and 'drill' down until find folder with admin, applications and all other files and folders therethen just upload everything into your forum root folder (should see the conf_global.php file as well as all the folders)make sure that you overwrite all the old filesIf using cPanel then what I do is (might want to make a backup of forum and database first):unzip your download and 'drill' down until find folder with admin, applications and all other files and folders therethen create a zip file with all those folders and files (except conf_global.dist.php ... not needed if upgrading)then via cPanel go to your forum root folder (should see the conf_global.php file as well as all the folders)upload your zipped file to therethen using cPanel unzip making sure that it overwrites original filesthen in your browser go to your forum_url/admin/upgradefollow instructions
Apfelstrudel
Thanks. We don't use cPanel. So we have to go the normal way. Exactly with "overwrite all the old files" we had the problem. That means the only directories staying on the server are public and uploads. Correct?
Nathan Explosion
Don't delete anything.Just upload the content of the zip over the top of your existing installation.
