Followers/Friends can be one system?

I know, another thread about this. Hear me out, this is different. It's a new twist I think.

I just wanted to pitch a quick idea I had regarding the Followers vs Friends situation. Allow me to preface this by letting you know I haven't fully thought this through and I am hoping for your input if you like this idea.

The idea is to stop thinking of Followers & Friends as 2 separate systems. Instead we can integrate them into one system.  Suppose user A followes user B, then user B in return also follows user A, they then become "friends"

In effect, following someone is a one way thing. If it's a mutual following a bond is formed making a friend that will be added to a friend list.

Please add to this idea, or tear it apart. I am interested in hearing what  you all think.

Personally, I don't mind the idea and wouldn't think it would be woefully difficult in the overall scheme of things. I've brought this to our internal discussion tracker for the follower feature.

I'd be tempted to call mutual followers "Super Followers" vs "friends" just to annoy @Woodsman. :)  (I kid, I kid.)

BTW Tell @Lindy that I need to add rotate my tires to that list....

The only problem with Followers is use the same notification for things you REALLY want to follow, like a topic, a file, etc. Someone from IPS (Lindy? Charles?) said that they're discussing it internally. If you separate it, then I see no problem on it.

A farmrer up north may have agreed with you 2 years ago when I went to pass him..... snapped the crank clean right behind the harmonic ballancer.... Not a pretty site.... Front journal was sitting here... here... and there on the road... Had a mechanic up there find and replace the engine.... But after Dennis's uncle dropped the pan to make sure it was a good one. No crud, no grime but most of all no metal or weak chevy parts....

YouTube embeds have been problematic. Even in 3.4.7, half the time they get posted as hyperlinks.

ugh, is there a bug report out there?

You should submit a bug report with a direct link to that post so they can see why it didn't embed. There are a few instances where it doesn't so they should be aware of them all to fix them.

Also tell them how you posted it. Pasted from what browser, etc.
