Michael Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Im using an ftp program from the hosting. So i upload the "upload" folder campletely in zip in /root forum and extract it completely everything in root, so the upload folder exist "new" with everything inside. I`ve done this before with all the programs and works And I'm telling you that won't work, so please don't keep trying it. You should not ever have an 'upload' folder on your site after uploading this.
Dmacleo Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Im using an ftp program from the hosting. So i upload the "upload" folder campletely in zip in /root forum and extract it completely everything in root, as has been said before extract it on your pc, don't bother uploading and extracting as it will not always move files correctly due to overwrites.so the upload folder exist "new" with everything inside. I`ve done this before with all the programs and works except for now when it doesn't.
Rimi Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Guys just break it down step by step. Vico just forget everything. All you need to do is download the shoutbox file and then unzip it on your computer. Don't use any FTP yet.
vico21 Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 I did ftp and replace. Nothing happedns, is not showing. public_html/forum/upload the folder exist is new, with everything inside. MAybe the version? houtbox 1.3.2 (IP.Board 3.2 & 3.3) 3.3.2
vico21 Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Maybe is the server needs some time, On monday, i guess maybe . All the webmasters coming up from Sunday
Michael Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 3.3.2 This is the problem. As I have said multiple times, you should not have a folder named 'upload' on your site after you have uploaded the files for this app. You upload what is inside the 'upload' folder, not the 'upload' folder itself.
vico21 Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 i`ve done it, now all i need is to configure. You know where? i`ll check here
Dmacleo Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 permissions are done in acp-member groups. set permissions for each group there under shoutbox tab. basic shoutbox settings and stuff are in acp-other apps- shoutbox
vico21 Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Wow, easy everything is setup Now i need to delete this @ Guest : (11 June 2012 - 06:41 PM) Congratulations, you have successfully installed Shoutbox! Now you need to setup the shoutbox permissions in ACP -> Members TAB -> Member Groups -> Manage Member Groups -> Edit a Group -> Shoutbox TAB
Leo Light Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 My shoutbox has a lot of white lines around, and inside of it. I am guessing this is a skin related problem? or image paths or something? how can i fix that? Thanks.
Leo Light Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 not sure if you were talking to me or not...url added.
Dmacleo Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 if its http://www.therealforums.com/ no shoutbox shows for guests so I could not begin to guess. I would suspect skin though.
Michael Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 If I had to guess what you mean by "a lot of white lines", I'd say you're probably referring to the borders between each shout. If so, the CSS where those are defined is described in this post, you can edit that to make it look right on your skin.
ipbconvert Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 I just spent about 20 minutes and I can't for the life of me figure out how to change the location of the Global Shoutbox. Other Apps -> Shoutbox -> Hook: Global seems to have disappeared!
Michael Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Try disabling and then re-enabling the hook from the Manage Hooks page.
cs-SopliCa.com Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Hi guys!I have a little question, but it is really bothering me. If i put the link in Shoutbox to some video from Youtube, it is viewed as video in SB, but I would like to show it as a link, not video.Thank you in advance for your help.
Michael Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Hi guys! I have a little question, but it is really bothering me. If i put the link in Shoutbox to some video from Youtube, it is viewed as video in SB, but I would like to show it as a link, not video. Thank you in advance for your help. That question is answered in the Shoutbox FAQ:Q. Ugh, people keep posting things like Youtube videos, big images, and other stuff I don't want to allow, in the Shoutbox. How can I stop this?
Leo Light Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 thanks Michael..that code adjustment fixed me up.
ipbconvert Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Try disabling and then re-enabling the hook from the Manage Hooks page. I did, doesn't work. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the hook. What to do? Thanks
Michael Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 You can try ensuring that all files are uploaded and then running the Recache Apps & Modules tool from the Manage Applications & Modules page. There's nothing else I can tell you if that doesn't work either, the menu item should show if the hook is enabled.
ipbconvert Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Welp, that's why you're the programmer. Recaching worked like a charm. Thanks again
GodDon Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 how do i fix the look of hte shoutbox? when i use it on the default IPB skin. it looks fine/normal when i use my other skins, the icon next to the title (to make the popup) doesnt work and all the lines between shouts and borders are real bright like. it doesnt flow right.. tried rebuilding & reacheing. nada
