JahLion Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 I just upgrade to the latest version and when i enable the global hook for the box to show up on the index page the box is push all the way to the right side of the board,it was working fine before i went and upgrade.
JahLion Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 still the same ,even default skin it showing like that
Michael Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 I don't know off-hand what to tell you then, I can't reproduce any such issue.
JahLion Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 I don't know either every thing was working as intended to i went and upgrade,i will just let members click on shoutbox tab instead then having it on the board index because i really don't know what went wrong after the upgrade.
JahLion Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 I found the problem it's because you add new settings in the hook where you would like the box place.
Michael Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Yes, I did, but there's no reason adding new options to that box would cause what you described.
JahLion Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Yes, I did, but there's no reason adding new options to that box would cause what you described. Well before my settings was top of page, but after upgrade it went to the side but every thing is okay now after changing it to the 2nd last setting you added.
coltclub.gr Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Hello! Is there a way when i make an announcement to change the backround color from green to anything else? Thank you!
Michael Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 The announcement text is placed in the .message CSS class of IP.Board, you can either change that CSS class's style rules (which will affect everything else that uses that class in IP.Board), change the skin_shoutbox -> announcement code to have it use some other CSS class, or set some inline style rules in that template to define a specific background color.
X5470 Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 well michael I recached my skins and I still cant post in IE. The shout box works in chrome, fire fox every other browseer but IE so since you made this mod are you going to fix it for me.heres a pic of wjhat you wanted
X5470 Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 that hello you see there is mine and its just been sitting there for weeks since this stopped working. On a serious note can you look into this
xSkyFli3rx Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Hello, after installing Shoutbox, I get this error:Fatal error: Call to a member function announcement() on a non-object in /home/fallensi/public_html/admin/applications_addon/other/shoutbox/sources/classes/library.php on line 390 What's wrong here?
Michael Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Refer to the Shoutbox FAQ linked in the first post.
YoungL Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Michael. I had the shoutbox installed on IP.Board 3.2.2 and it was all fine. I have updated to 3.2.3 and now the shoutbox has signficant lag. Using firebug to see how long it takes to load about 12 seconds it reports. When I disable the shoutbox every page loads in under a second. Do you have any idea what is causing this issue? I have tried recaching and moving the shoutbox to below the forums. Ive tried everything I can think of. For now I have had to disable the shoutbox until I figure a way to remove this lag.
Michael Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 It runs fine for me on 3.2.3, I don't know of any reason why that upgrade would make the site lag.
xSkyFli3rx Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Refer to the Shoutbox FAQ linked in the first post. I already tried to reupload Shoutbox files and tried to rebuild skins. I still get the same error.
Michael Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 The error is because it's not loading the skin template for announcements. If the steps in the FAQ do not fix that, then rebuilding skins is not working at all on your forum, and you should submit a ticket to IPS.
YoungL Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Michael I Got to the bottom of the problem. The shoutbox loads the emoticons on load rather than on event. It might be a good idea to change the system so that emoticons are only loaded when you click the emoticons button rather than loading them on page load. As I had 200+ emoticons this was taking a fair few seconds to load with all the HTTP requests being made to the server. On a busy site with a lot of emoticons it just doesn't work well.
X5470 Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Ive sent you a email with the details of my board are you going to fix this or keep blowing me off. Just because things works for you doesnt mean it works with others

I added that to the feature suggestions list: http://invisionfocus.com/tracker/issue-448-load-emoticons-only-on-the-button-click/
YoungL Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Thanks, I appreciate you doing that. It really is an excellent addition to our community, it gets used for hundreds of shouts per day so definitely a well loved addon.
X5470 Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 I find it disgusting that i'm asking for help for my shout box and this michael mccune is ignoring me and ive done nothing to insult you anytype of remarks I gave you everything you needed my board name the link a picture . I'm a adult man who has paid invision to use there services and the market place moderator is ignoring me
Tripp★ Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 I installed this today and it's not very friendly for sites with a lot of emoticons (It seems to load them all with the shoutbox on the main page, which isn't necessary) Is there anyway I can stop the shoutbox from doing this? Thanks!
Connor T Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Obviously you didn't read the last 3 posts above you. Edit it out of the skin or wait for the next update (assuming that feature is added). IPB wasn't built for that many emoticons.
