whitetigergrowl Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 I've always much preferred IP.Board for the modifications available, their support staff and the winner for me is the ACP. Far easier to use than any other. Are there likely to be any major changes for the 3.0 ACP? I've been out of the loop for a while and finally purchased another license last week. While no one other than IPS has seen it, I'm assuming to some extent yes. Just going by the fact IPB 3 was re-written, I'm pretty positive the ACP will have some significant changes as well. Especially in layout and how things function. But this is just an assumption. I just question how long it will take before we go to IPB 3.1. lol
Richard Myers Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 I suppose 3.1 will depend heavily on the beta testing results of 3.0 & then the FINAL release.
Malefickus Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 I have heard that IPB and VB are going to merge. :D As in IPS fires ALL of the vB staff, absovles their product, and rules the forum industy? NICE!
trueoutdoorsmanonline Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Got the popcorn out and am enjoying this very much :D It's only $30 guys, only $5/month give it a break for the best support and upgrades around. I accidentally purchased another board for $150 and had no reason to, lol! (Thinking about making it a public test board to test mods or selling it for $25/off or something). I think of it as more of a donation, especially because I am always asking for support (I get my money's worth  ) and love upgrades. Though I do have over 20 custom made mods on my main site which would cost way to much to upgrade, so I'll probably stick with 2.3.6. So those of you who can't afford $5/month go look through the couch! Now about IPB 3, looks awesome and can't wait for it to come out for spare board, but like I said above, too many custom jobs to upgrade on my main board.
FCB-Mo Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 A donation of a $150.... if only we all had as much money laying about doing nothing as you.
Mark Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 A donation of a $150.... if only we all had as much money laying about doing nothing as you. I think he means the $25 every six months. To be honest, if your website isn't making $5 a month, perhaps you're in the wrong job...
Faelwen Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Not every website or forum out there is created to make you money. :) Some of us actually just have sites...for personal purposes - or to provide free services to the www community. :)
Olivier Turbis Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 I think it's time to close this topic... ;)
TrixieTang Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 I think it's time to close this topic... ;) Agreed. ^^;
whitetigergrowl Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 A donation of a $150.... if only we all had as much money laying about doing nothing as you. Say huh? That's for the license, the rights to use the board. When you buy cigarettes (if you smoke), a video game, go to a movie, etc.... do you do the same level of complaining then? Figure the cost of IPB for 6 months of support. In 6 months you likely spend the same amount or more on stuff that's useless. Do you complain about it then too? That you didn't have the money laying around then either to spend. I fail to see your point. Did you complain after you got your drivers license that OMG, you have to pay for car insurance too. Or that you have to pay for gas or oil or well...quite a bit of other stuff just to use it? That it's not all inclusive. Seriously, you are making something out of nothing.
uberjon Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 my question is, will people like myself (own a license but no support) know of the first downloadable version? or do we have to renew our support and find out that way? im looking forward to testing IPB3... but on my ultra-tight budget... if i can wait another month before spending 25$ its what il do.
Yuksel Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Can we expect a preview of IPB 3.0 or is it canceled? Can't you guys just open the preview forum and say you don't accept bug reports until you fixed some? We are waiting for about a week now and believe me it is frustrating! We just want a preview. Nothing more! Thanx :)

Yuksel Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Are you sure? Because a preview is a preview (it may also be some screenshots) and it was ready one week ago. Everyone knows that it will contain bugs. So, i dont know why we are waiting.
stoo2000 Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 IPS have already explained this.... They are not ready, and it will make things harder for them if they let everyone in at the moment.
ᴡᴅツ Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 I paid the $25 invoice but I did not gain access to the ipb3 preview, nor any downloads of IPB. How long does it take?
AssoMiL Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 IPS have already explained this.... They are not ready, and it will make things harder for them if they let everyone in at the moment. I find it really unfair that some customers can have access while those with a license but not support cannot and have to wait an' look the others enjoy the preview. Either everyone is treated the same way or nobody... We're all customers, we all paid for it. We've beeen waiting for more than a week i presume and nothing is coming. On the contrary, we're told to wait even more. I don't see what would be "harder" if the bug tracker was closed and all customers allowed to see the preview. They could work on the bugs already reported and the re-open a bug tracker when ready to deal with other bug reports. I don't get the point in teasing us and saying weeks in and weeks out 'look how good IPB3 will be', 'you'll have such and such and such awesome features', and then though we paid we cannot access it. A shame really, doing no good to customers.
grippo Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 I quite agree. I am a perpetual licence holder, but I don't have support at the moment because I don't require it. I probably will buy it for when I upgrade my board, but as there's no fixed release date, I don't see the point in buying support now and "wasting" a month or so of it whilst we wait for the final release. It's obviously easier on the permissions for so-called "active" customers to have access to the preview, but I think the attitude of IPS in general towards perpetual licence holders who don't hold a current support licence is fairly weak. Would it hurt to have us in a perpetual group, as opposed to the ordinary members group, just to acknowledge the fact that we have bought the software? I only browse these forums when I need to because I don't feel like a valued customer at all by IPS, which is a tragic shame, considering that I love the software and have used it for years (2002-2005 for free, 2005-present paid for). I don't think it's intentional by IPS - but maybe they don't realise how it makes perpetual customers feel when you're treated the same as someone who has just joined up to the site for a look than as a customer. I think the updates we've received about IPB 3.0 have been very interesting to read, but it is a bit of a smack in the face to find that after following the updates for the past 7 months, we're not even eligible to see a screenshot! :(
CoderX Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Screenshots have been leaked in the comments section of the latest blog entry. ;)
Alex Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Thanks ^_^ Getting someone to remove those comments now :P They're not allowed to post stuff like that. Archon Neo, read the pinned topic in the customer lounge.
CoderX Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 ahaha that's gotta hurt. :P If they do find the site, they're won't be able to login will they?
Alex Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 As far as I know, they can actually log in, but they just get a 'you do not have permission to view this board' error.
