I'd like to see full support for small screen sizes. Making Lo-Fi fully functional would be perfectly adequate. Using browser detection or whatever to make smartphones and the like default to low-fi would be awesome. With the success of the EeePC and spread of web-able phones it's pretty obvious that the future of the web is going to be smaller viewports, not larger.

Designing to support handheld devices would likely also greatly increase accessibility for blind users, likely giving IPB a competitive advantage in government and education sectors were best possible accessibility is mandated by law.

Actually, make this a feature request for 4.0. It should definitely be a long-term goal though, IMHO.

What I'd really appreciate would be a commitment to provide security support for 2.3.x for six months to a year in order to give people plenty of time to get mods upgraded.

Actually, we currently have plans to ship IP.Board 3 with a "simple" skin. Think - Lofi version (maybe slightly styled more, but no images/js/etc.) fully functional. That is the plan, at least.

Good news! We want a NO IMAGE/JS skin for mobile...

Well, if it's something that has to be selected on the phone (or whatever), and then changed once you get to a computer, that's not gonna make things much more convenient... I have a simplier skin that I can get by with, but then have to change back once I get on the computer...

I'd still like to see it, though... at least it'll be something... :)

Skins can be tied to user agents, so if you are on a phone it will auto select the simple skin :)

Will 3.0 have the ability to attach galleries to threads (like in ipblog)?

What would be really be great is the ability to attach gallery files into posts, not always the whole gallery
and when the file is attached it puts a clickable thumbnail into the post

I have been copying thumbnail images and links into my posts, but if there was the ability to do my easily it would be wonderful

What would be nice is the ability to pm members if you delete a post, then they know why it was deleted, like the warn system...

That would be nice.

Another feature I want is whisper, a private post in a topic only visible by the person you specify in the field that asks you who the whisper is for, like OCF has.

The ipb 3 skin will be made from scratch, but will have a similar look based on the existing look.

I thought it was said that it would not be based on the existing look? Seeing they have had blue since IPB1 I thought they were going for something fresh

It will be a new whole look, Rikki said that in another post :)

As others have said, the IPB3 skin is completely new. You may be getting mixed up with where I said the front end skin and the ACP will be similar :)

Will there be only one new skin?

(What will happen to IP.Pro and IPB 2.2.0 Default ?)

Hopefully the skin will be as good a base for 'skinning' as the IP.Pro skin :)

There are supposed to be three skins... The new one, the "light" one and one for mobile devices. Thus, I do believe the "Pro" skin and the older skin will go away, but the concepts will be the same. The "Pro" skin as it is right now is more of a "light" version of the older skin, with no gradients, flat colors, etc. So take the new IPB3 skin and then imagine it toned down, that's what the IPB3 "Pro" skin will be like. As for the mobile skin, it was said that Lo-Fi Mode will become completely usable, with new topic creating, replying, etc.

Looks like Rikki is the one who has the most pressure on.

We expect something exiciting Rikki, something that would give us a new breath, a new look to our lives. Our fate is in your hands, right? :shifty:

Anyone remembers that Eurovision song: "You are the one, you my number one, la la la la..." :geek:

Thou shalt do something awesome :P
