WoLeRiNe` Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 CONTROL OF SUBFORUM! Example; FORUM - Subforum - Subforum - Subforum - Subforum - Subforum - Subforum FORUM - Subforum - Subforum - Subforum - Subforum - Subforum - Subforum - Subforum - Subforum - SubforumThis will be very useful if we control the subforums styles...
DarkSolrac Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Suggestion: Ip Board included the option that the invisible users to be seen by the moderators, selected or unselected by the admin. Regards
DarkSolrac Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Spanish Version, with ACP in spanish too. Regards
joomlajon Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Suggestion: I don't know if this has been suggested or if I am doing it wrong. But I am translating the board now and there is no search function, I have to guess where to find the phrases to translate. What would be really cool is a "translation mode" where you just click the phrase you want to translate and do it from the front end. ;) /Jon
Sophie R. Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 public groups, as VBulletin and PhpBB have. Maybe even like those social groups that are coming in VBulletin 3.7? I would love it and definitely use it.
Ozpicious Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 I would love to see the option to view forums over https whilst also providing a non encrypted option implemented by default It is something that many of the other packages out there are capable of , I have written mods for several versions to try and do it myself however always end up with bugs that make it unreliable I am far from the level of ipb staff though lol . Atm i have been forced to make the choice of one or the other and tbh it's the one thing that has always been on my wish list lol
henke37 Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 I think we might need to lock this topic soon, before it takes over the forum.
Bain Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 I think we might need to lock this topic soon, before it takes over the forum. There is no reason to lock the thread. It is great that we are able to discuss what we would like to see in IPB 3.0.0. It adds to the community instead of detracting from it.
Morrigan Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 And easier/faster way to reorder boards (like the way gallery does it or something) and also a fix on adding/removing moderators. I hate having to press "Show/Hide Moderator Options" for every forum that I add/subtract a moderator from.
WebbyB Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Profile Area Thumbnail sizes! This would actually be VERY helpful!... You can specifiy the image post thumbnail size for posts within the ACP. Trouble is these sizes apply for the posts within a users profile... Can I suggest one of the follow please. 1. Disable images/attachments showing altogether within a users profile (under the posts and topics tab) or/and 2. Have a spearate option that allows you to spicify the dimensions of image attachments within a user profile area, that way it keeps the integrety of the boards layout Regards
Xtibia Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 public groups, as VBulletin and PhpBB have. Maybe even like those social groups that are coming in VBulletin 3.7? I would love it and definitely use it. +1 #Topic And translate ACP to other languages
Velvet Elvis Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 +1 #Topic And translate ACP to other languages I like this too. Better, do it livejournal style and let users create their own groups and decide if they are going to be public or private, etc. This might be better suited for just the blog.
.om Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Ability to reorder forums by dragging...ability for members to choose the way which forums appear at the top of the list and which ones at the bottom...they could just drag and move around the forums? I don't think this has been done anywhere else? ;)
LiquidFractal Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 I know I've raved on about this somewhere before: LANGUAGE FILE MODS. I would really love an interface where we could manage our customized language updates and keep them INTACT between updates!! I really don't look forward to updating Forums and then having to go back and edit the English language mod and correct all the shortcomings in the language. All due respect to the folks at Invision, but the small but quirky, quasi-sort-of-but-not-really academic literature-sympathetic nature of my Forums means I want the tone of the language to be the same. So I'd love a way to store my changes independent of any updates made to the Board version. Maybe a layout to show which language values have been customized and which aren't/which are NEW and need to be customized? Apart from that, I love the Forums package and look forward to all the nice juicy new changes that seem to be on the horizon!
Morrigan Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 I agree with that. I like to mod mine to fit my theme (my guests are known as Pure Souls and my members are Corrupted Souls) and having to change that a lot is rather obnoxious.
WebbyB Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Another small one...Auto Email a user on their Birthday What a really nice touch it would be if in V.3.0 you could build into the functionality the ability for the Forum to Email a user on their birthday. It would be an automated message, I know other forums do this and I think it would be a really nice touch. Also it reminds them about the forum if they have been absent for a while. Writing this has also reminded me of...Automated welcome PM Configurable via the ACP - on/off - subject - message. So you can send an automated welcome message to everyone that registers to the board. I have to say, ALOT of my members loved it when they joined to get a welcome message, it's such a nice and personal touch. Plus it's good to highlight what the board is about and direct them to interesting forums etc. Just a couple more ideas :)
marklcfc Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Request for the warning system. Can you make it so when its activated it doesn't show up in topic view for every single member for admin and mods. Maybe stick it in their profile or on the drop down where they can then be warned? I've never activated it cause with so many members its just in the way for the mods.

I've never activated it cause with so many members its just in the way for the mods. Although I can see that being better in your case, for most boards it needs clear and quick access in order to repremand or ban a member from the forums. Having it in the profile would require a page change, then once the warning is increased a change for the reason, etc. I think being where it is at and the size, it's better left right beside the content being judged, the post.
TrixieTang Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Avatar limits as a usergroup option rather than global Custom title permissions a usergroup option rather than postcount based More control over the look and layout of profiles (Profiles that don't stretch the screens of people using 800x600 as their resolution) Automatic PM to members on their birthday USER selectable (Not admin selectable) postbit option, horizontal and vertical Notice headers like vB 3.7.0's, just with more options for them
Stella Artois Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Feature requests: Mouse over, text preview of the first post in forum view. Keyword subscription, i.e. notification of new topics or posts containing chosen keywords. IPBSDK/IPBWI like member functions to allow easy and complete website login and member database integration.
.om Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Instead of a mouseover to preview topics..it would be useful to load it when clicked...an expand and collapse button besides each topic which when clicked drops down neatly...this will give an option for member to preview the first post of a topic and also would reduce load off the server by saving the run of mysql queries every time a hover happens.
Stella Artois Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Instead of a mouseover to preview topics..it would be useful to load it when clicked...an expand and collapse button besides each topic which when clicked drops down neatly...this will give an option for member to preview the first post of a topic and also would reduce load off the server by saving the run of mysql queries every time a hover happens. Storing the first x number of characters from the 1st post in the topic table would remove the need for extra queries and the extra memory usage would probably be offset by people not loading topics with misleading or undescriptive topic titles that they have no interest in reading. I do think the current thing where the date shows up on mouseover is a waste of time.
King Buzzo Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Here's my wishlist in order of importance to my community.Setting for RSS Import Topic Date - options would be to have the topic post with original date/time of RSS article or current date/time. Frequently my regular members complain that the RSS Import Topics don't show on thier new posts list because they are posted into the past.Tight Gallery/Blog integration - including the ability to link blog entries, gallery image/media files, gallery photostrips and slideshows directly in an IP.Board topic.Social Networking Bookmarks - Digg, Slashdot, etc functionality embedded in the topics.Expanded BBC Code - to include /me and tags.Expanded Portal Functionality - including Google type drag and drop gadget functionality, much like the blog. The ability to have several 'boxes' for topic lisings from different forum categories. Ability to show lastes discussion by Topic start date, latest posts, or both (in different gadgets of course). At least two standard modernized skin options - one for light and one for dark users. It would also be really really cool if we had the ability to change the general layout of the board. Much like the Google Homepage Gadget functionality. Where each section would be a gadget. You could move each bit and create truely custom looking boards. The main bits would be the User CP, Site Navigation, Site Stats, Header section, Footer Section and a Cutom Code Section (we could plop ads or whatever there). That's it! Thanks for the great products!
marklcfc Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 I hear 3.0 will be easier to move everything around, so can we have an option to group forum catagories together in the vbulletin style please?
