Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
AndyF Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Been thinking about this for a while...It would be good if there was an option not to display birthdays for members who`s last activity has been over x months etc (to have x months adjustable obviously and a global on / off switch)Im thinking that members who havent been online for more than say 6 months, theres litle point in displaying a birthday for them :)Any comments ?
Mark Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Good idea <img src="http://forums.invisionpower.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> I sometimes look at the birthday list and think "who are these people!?"
atsaunier Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 i think thats a wounderful idea :), but let the admin/owner choose how long though :)
RedZone Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 Yeah, I agree this should be an option. Who should be rewarded for there birthday if they were not even there in month's!!
That1TyGuy Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 I think the same thing. It should definitely be added, I like this idea.
TestingSomething Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 It is apparently an option with vbulletin. I don't know if I would ened this, but it is a pretty good idea.
Nyshera Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 My problem is that birthdays are showing on my board for banned members. I want to be able to set the birthdays so that only people in certain user group show up in the birthday announcements.
sunrisecc Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 I routinely remove the birthday date from members who are banned. Hence they do nor show up in the birthday list.
MichelleBCF Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Can I please bump this up, as it appears it's not been included. We have many members who come and go on our forum, and it's annoying to see a big list of birthdays when you know many haven't visited for ages. vB had an option of only showing birthdays for 'active users', and if forum owners could set that cut off, it would be great. :)
AndyF Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 This topic is old :D , I had forgotten I had written it until it re-appeared, I would guess I was using 2.1.3 or something back then :D Perhaps a slight twist on this, a group select box to exclude certain groups from showing in the birthdays would be a better idea ?
Elanor Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 For me that would work. Dont have a problem with names showing op even if not active in the last x days. But your suggestion wouldn't fix it for people that want activity cutoff. Perhaps a combination of the two....en checkbox for groups that are shown, with an additional setting for activity cutoff per group? For now, i'm working with the workaround that was posted earlier...just removing birthdays...for those groups I don't want to show up in birthdaylist. Elanor
AndyF Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Perhaps it should exclude them if their last activity was over x months ? :)
Elanor Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Would work for me, if I can choose what groups to exclude...no matter what their last activity was. If I ban a member today, I don't want the birthday to show up tomorrow. But hey....that just what I want. Many have wishes, so the solution must be somewhere in the middle I guess. Elanor
Adriano Faria Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 I'll add this to that hook that's ready: http://community.inv...rthday-listing/ The only problem is that will work only in board index (birthday list), 'cause CALENDAR app has 2 methods that are still PRIVATE in 3.1.3, which can't be hooked and I don't want to make it as a mod. I'll release it next days.
Adriano Faria Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Done: http://community.invisionpower.com/files/file/3740-sos31-enhanced-birthday-listing-v100/ ;)
