How does one gain the privilege of becoming a private beta-tester?

i thought that if we have a valid license, we automatically get the beta versions on the IPS download page?

Seyeko, You do get beta and RC versions BUT they do go to beta testers before public beta testers.

I think every so often you can appy for beta testing they normaly have it on there news area of the forum (could be wrong)

Seyeko, I'm talking about private beta-testing, it's done 'behind the scenes' before the public beta(s)/ release candidate(s).

he is referring to the private beta of IPDynamic and Nexus. To become a beta tester you have to have PHP and SQL knowledge I beleave. thats the criteria to gain access to beta testing.

I believe IPS will approach you asking if you would be interested.

For nexus, click here.

For dynamic and converge, though they are now closed, the information is here.

I think he means it more in general to become a beta tester for ipb itself, not one of the side packages. To answer that: I believe they are currently not accepting anymore testers on that group.

I would be willing to test any of IPS's software, I wasn't expressing an interest solely in IP.Board. Reason being, I just happen to be very good at finding errors with things, thanks for the links anyway. I appreciate it.

I became a private beta tester by applying to the IPD/IPC testing, I was accepted and later on once IPB 2.2 was in alpha stages they let us test it as well in addition to IPD and IPC.

It was then decided that we privately test IPB from now on, before public releases are made. Therefore the private beta testers, and the IPS staff make up the "Quality Assurance" team.

they should include some translators, to avoid being bugged with hardcodes during beta/rc tests ;)

They also might want to consider looking at people who are very familiar with the product and who do software testing professionally. I know someone who fits that description. :shifty:
