Cool Surfer Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 I am using RC2 on 2 live forums. Working cool :)
Boozer Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 untill something goes wrong..yeah but something can easily go wrong with the final.
H@ssan Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 I have board with 26969 members with 923565 post and I also using some Mods like Arcade so I will definately wait for the final so that I can avail the support and till than Arcade for 2.2 will be hopefully out too.
Mesmer Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 yeah but something can easily go wrong with the final.thats true but IPS will give me support when I use Final and they don't give me support when I use a RC
Logan Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 No way. I'm waiting til Final. I have almost 8,000 members and over 72,000 posts on my board, and I'm not going to risk my board by installing an UNFINISHED product. And even after it does go final, I am still going to wait a few days to see if anyone is having problems. Am I paranoid? No, I'm just being careful.I guess I'm just brave :PGSO has 12,771 members (regs currently disabled, it's only opened a few times a year), and 158, 423 posts.Nah, not just brave. After a few test upgrades and installs, became very confident that RC 2 was quite stable, and didn't expect any problems.
ScottyToledo Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 Yes, I know, it's an odd ratio. But I have a gaming forum, with a ton of downloads. I get alot of people joining just so they can download. I do have my regulars though. I am happy with the way it is now, I'd really go crazy if ALL the members at my forum were active! ::: shudders :::
Cool Surfer Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 I guess I'm just brave :PGuess then I am brave too  I think now you can upgrade live forums to rc2.Only thing is take good backups, install and upgrade on ur pc firstsee if all works good for you. Then go live.
Alex Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 RC2 is extremely stable, they didnt really need it, they could have called it FINAL.No problems updating my live board :) Works brilliantly. Only error is the JS error in bottom corner, but thats not effecting anything.
Logan Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 I think RC 2 was needed, there's a decent amount of little buggies floating around. But I think final will definitely be after.
Xenboy Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 The smart thing to do with any new major release is hold off for a month or two until any serious bugs have been squashed. If there's one thing you can be certain of, its that code as complex as IPB always has bugs in it from the new features or changes that were added. So you should wait for 2.2.1 or 2.2.2. In the mean time, mod and theme authors will have time to update their mods for the new version. This way you can save yourself and your users the hassles of dealing with the issues that will be in the initial release of 2.2.
Mr Blah Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 I just started my website and originally started it with 2.2 bete 1 and I have had no provlems yet :) (knock on wood)But here is my site.http://www.gamersgrounds.comtotally live.
Brock T Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 If you check the ibProArcade site, you will see that they have a version that supports 2.2. It's not final either though.I have board with 26969 members with 923565 post and I also using some Mods like Arcade so I will definately wait for the final so that I can avail the support and till than Arcade for 2.2 will be hopefully out too.
Dan F Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 I've been using 2.2 on my main forums since RC1. No problems, except one skin issue(see my topic about RTE stylesheets). The only thing my members have complained about is that the army system doesn't work but they can wait, its not the most important thing about a community.
Don Z Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 I'm running one with RC2 live. I have a test forum with some of Micheal's (FuSoYa) and Dean's mods on it, with the Arcade and battle mod. Upgraded fom RC1, mod edits with very limited, using Micheal's mod installer, makes mod installing a breeze to install abnd updae mods.
Amy T Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 I might wait tell final. How ever if the problem I am having is not fixed I will probably stay with 2.1.7.
TestingSomething Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 My live one is www.gotzelda.com although I havent got everything complete how I want it there yet, but still live technically since registrations are not turned off.I am not sure, but I may just go ahead and upgrade my main site too and not put mods back in, since nobody goes there much anyway at this point. I am just bored.

. Adam . Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 Definately. We use it on TechTutsIts great :).. Anyone know when 2.2.1 or w/e is released?- Adam
Working4computers Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 :P 2.2.1!! We haven't even got the final version of 2.2 yet.I'm sure when 2.2 is released, there might be an indication of 2.2.1, if needed.:)
Mesmer Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Definately. We use it on TechTutsIts great :).. Anyone know when 2.2.1 or w/e is released?- AdamIf we tell you, we have to kill you <_<
Cool Surfer Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 I think they should release final 2.2.0, then more people will use it and hence more bugs reported. Right now only the die hard types are using rc2 :)
Defenestration Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 I think they should release final 2.2.0, then more people will use it and hence more bugs reported. Right now only the die hard types are using rc2 :)But even with only the die hards using RC2, there have been some bugs found which should be fixed before final along with at least one that was a regression from RC1. The bugs in RC2 should be fixed and then a RC3 released. If after a week (or so) there are no real bugs that have been found then (and only then) it should go final.
cmanns Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 There are too many in 2.2 rc2 for me to upgrade :P
Cool Surfer Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Such like bugs shall always remain. Like in 2.1 series. There were vulnerabilityright from 22.1.0 to 2.1.7
Boozer Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 I've only tested RC2 and i havent noticed any major bugs that would make it unusableIPS uses it here and it seems fine.
