You can always tell when the release is coming out because of IPS's forums it is RC 1 rigth now not beta 2

The forums here have been RC1 since at least last Friday. Nice try though. ;)

How about when you're running a fully patched 2.1.7 and your Admin CP tells you there's an available update?

I get that too. Odd that the update shows up there, however...

Edit: But doesn't actually lead anywhere with a new update...

Yeah, I noticed that too. Guess it just means Matt's working on those changes to the client center he mentioned.

There was a 'medium' update today for 2.1.7. I updated by overwriting the file.

However I cannot turn the notice flag off (to blue).

Generally, that banner becomes a security update banner when there is just a minor patch like that, the red 'available update' banner we're all getting now means that the main IPB version we're running is now out of synch with what IPS says we should have, most likely because of the work Matt is doing.

Is it safe to upgrade skins in 2.2 beta and hope they will work with final with minimal changes?

How very perceptive of you.

There is no link to click to make the available update message go away in the ACP after patching...

I converted my skins to 2.2 beta2..
I am thinking that if you have done most of the work. There should be only minimal changes to the final.

Cheers
