Invision Community 5: A video walkthrough creating a custom theme and homepage By Matt Thursday at 04:02 PM
Darksbane Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 I noticed it has been removed, will it still be available to modders to add custom items? I know Matt said this was one of the nice features of it and I was looking forward to taking advantage of it.
Terry - AKA Dumbledore Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Matt has already stated the he removed it because the majority of the comments on it were negative.
Quillz Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Matt has already stated the he removed it because the majority of the comments on it were negative. But it was still useful... I really wish it wasn't removed. What happened to the options that were in it?
Sinistra Sensei Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 What was this "insert special Item" first I heard of it
Why Two Kay Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 It basically turned the old style of "add link" "add quote" "add image" buttons that are normally above the posting field, and made them into a sort of menu on the left below the smilies. I personally didn't care for it, and the AJAX pop-up window when you clicked to add an image was annoying. Those are my 2 cents.
Management Matt Posted October 5, 2006 Management Posted October 5, 2006 The insert special menu is just hidden if there are no items in it. You can still add your own items into it and it'll appear again. At some point I might tie in the custom BB code into it to allow admins to have their custom BB code appear in the menu.

And the custom BB code integration sounds like a good idea to me.

So the functionality of the insert special item is still available, I'm glad because I can think of alot of cool things I can do with that if it is easily modable. Also I disagree with Why Two Kay in that I liked the new image entry better than the javascript popup box. Is there a chance of that returning? I do prefer those commonly used buttons like insert image and link to have their own button though.
Why Two Kay Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 I never used the popup anyway, what I do is copy/paste the image URL into the post, hilite it all, and then click the image icon, to put the tags on for me. I do not use the Rich Text editor, I use plain code.
