Pricing Q: Gap in renewal

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just a quick Q about the new pricing.

Say I let my license expire, then after a month or two I need support, or version x is released, can I renew at the renewal cost at that time. Or will I have to efectively buy a new license?

Cheers!

If Perpetual - yes.

If Yearly - not once new pricing comes online as Yearly will not be available.

This seems like it goes against the news post.

It made it sound like, the current yearly license could be renewed for an optional $25 for 6 months of support and product upgrades.

Is this not the correct, and if its not correct, what does happen to the current yearly license customers?

Yearly License holders will not be able to renew at their current rate when their year has expired. Instead, the license will be be renewed at $25 every 6 months when their current term expires. Any customers currently on a Yearly License who wish to upgrade to a Perpetual License please contact customer service by October 1, 2006 to request this change.

The original poster is referring to an expired license. If it's expired then nothing really happens to it until they contact customer service.

Alright I was just checking, as the response sort of worried me

I mean if it expires after it becomes the new license. e.g. it expires next year. I dont renew (25$) but I wait a month, can I then pay my $25 and get 6 months of updates and support, or do I have to buy a new license?

Thanks

By then it would already be a Standard license so you don't have to renew then you can wait on the $25.

Thats good. I just wanted to check if I left it a month after it expired or something that I wouldnt then have to pay over $100 - thanks :) I like the new renewal options. I think it will encourage more people to renew (although I dont like the initial prices :P)

Thats good to know as I was worry about this myself. I think its been getting mixed up between the lines. Most eveyone is wondering about their expire licenses already. My first one goes up in March 2007, is good to know I don't have to pay $25 in March but still be able to renew it a year later if I choose to.

Yes, I was wondering about this too. My Yearly expired back in May, and I haven't bothered to renew it yet. So once the new system rolls around (What is it, mid-October we're looking at?), it'll become a Standard, and I can get the 6 months for $25?

Basically, if your license is currently expired, you're not left behind, right?

No. The rollover is only for active licenses, unless that has changed since yesterday.

Yes, yes you are. It must be active at the time, otherwise it isn't a license.

If you renew your yearly license BEFORE the new pricing structure comes into place you're switched over to a standard license and pay $25 every 6 months. If you don't renew before it swaps over, you have to buy a new standard license.

Well I was told differently in a ticket, so they need to honor it.

Hello,

Please PM me your ticket number and I will respond to it and check the previous reply and clarify things.
