IPB 2.1.2 & ICB 1.2.1 Released

FYI, the issue with the url is likely related to a custom skin issue.

Language bits were further abstracted from the javascript files in 2.1.2 and js variables were defined to map to the language bits. If you are using a custom skin and the template was not updated, you would likely be getting a js error trying to use the url bbcode/RTE insert javascript.

Testing on my local 2.1.2 board it works properly.

Nope. Bombing on default skin with no other skins installed. Not a big deal for me.. My fix was to go in and edit the ./jscripts/ipb_editor_std.js file and remove the js variables, replacing them with the original "My Website"

I did a full reupload..I overwrote everything...sadly, I can't tell you which one actually fixed the issue..

I tried what you suggested but still have no chat controls showing in my ACP which is annoying because I cant set access rights and atm my chatroom is open to all :ermm:

FWIW, no custom skin here, either. I have edited the skin for my spell checker, etc.. but no custom skins.

Yes. Basically what I did was change two lines...

Yes, and if you had to change those variables, that means they aren't getting set in the skin. If you submit a ticket (after changing them back so we can duplicate the issue) I'd be glad to get it setup for you.

And if you are referring to the RTE editor, you have to highlight some text, then click the link button and enter the link. It will link whatever text you highlighted to the link you specify in the popup.

I just tested RTE and STD on a completely (brand new from the download package available in the client center) install and both worked fine. :)

seriously tho, i have a highly modified board, its gettin silly me having to redo everything over and over agan every week :(

maybe IPS should seriously start considering a manual upgrade instruction with each release because i'm sure alot of the invision power board customers have modified boards. and as we can all see this is requested alot after every release. Unfortuntly tho i have never seen any responce to anyones request by anyone from IPS so either i've just missed them or the requests are ignored.

i know yas aint forcin anyone to upgrade and that but it would be nice for the modders to be able to upgrade with ease too. am sure it wouldnt take too long to put a manual upgrade instruction together.

hope you guys finally get round to it.

It can become very anoying having to upgrade my Forum with Moderations after every release.

That should be ending soon with the new components system. That is very intuitive and easy to use. I have already written a few modules in that myself and the module writers should run with that. Surely they will once they figure it out.

So what you're telling us is that if the hyperlink box doesn't work normally (Click on the hyperlink button, enter the URL, click OK, then "My Website" and OK), we're to type the URL normally in the text entry box, highlight it, then click the hyperlink button? And that should open the box to add the "My Website", etc?

See, the problem is that it happens on certain computers, but not others. I can do links fine, the "old" way, right now, but when I use my home computer, I'll click on the hyperlink box, enter the URL, and when I click OK, the box disappears? BOTH computers using IE6.


Also, I'm another one with the emoticons jumping to the very end of the post, no matter which computer I use.

I DO have a ticket open for this. 224616 (Just so I'm not told to open a support ticket again.)

I guess I'm just confused as to why the URL button works in some situations, but not others, when using the same browser.

IMO, the emoticon issue is a very minor issue, to be sure. But the hyperlink problem is a major issue for me.

These issues both occur in the standard editor. In the RTE, I'm not having issues.

If it's not working in the standard editor, some language bits did not get updated in your skin. Update your ticket noting this, and we will ensure the default skin on your site works for the url box.

I think I've found the problem...or at least part of it.

when I go to my skin tools, I get a red box in there under "Rebuild Master Skin Components." It says "Please check install/installfiles/components.php - 'ipsclass.php' is more than a week newer."

Above that is a green box that says "install/installfiles/components.php last updated: 15-September 05."

which basically tells me that this particular file did not get upgraded when I moved to 2.1.2.

The 2.1.2 download didn't come with any installfiles/components.php, tho..

I ran into a big problem with the upgrade so I try a downgrade and a reupgrade but sitll got no where and really need hlep from IPS Staff, I open a ticket about tha matter and so hopfully someone from the staff can give me a hand.

I upgraded from 2.0.3 to 2.1.2 The upgrade went rather well, but my custom skin is messed up big time. I have to adapt the CSS, "redo" the IBportal and when I search, my results suddenly have a different layout.

Why not a security patch??? This sucks... :(

It's not that we "want access" to your site, however to verify this is the issue (and that there isn't something else causing the problem, i.e. a language file that wasn't updated) we would need to access your acp to verify the skin.

If it helps any, make sure the language file for the editors was updated, and then make sure editor_std (under Post/PM Editor skin section) has these two js variables added (as of 2.1.2):

var jsfile_error_lang = "{ipb.lang['jsfile_error']}"; var jsfile_myweb_lang = "{ipb.lang['jsfile_mywebpage']}";

I had the update from 2.1.1 to 2.1.2 and everything seemed hunky dorey until I needed to add the mods again and found that I now have Zend Encrypted Files. I already own a license so that I could see my files which doesn't run out until next april.

I'm truly not happy about this.

Rebuilding your master skin templates didn't reimport the skin bits? If those skin templates are customized the changes won't filter down, fyi. You may need to revert any changes first and then rebuild each skin. As I said before though, I would really need to take a look to see why it might not be updating them. :)

I would suggest replying to your ticket noting this. As your license is active, you can also download the IPB package from the client center and just reupload the .php files overtop of the existing ones. :)
