Some people like relative date, others like exact date, and yet others like both. Above posts (such as this one), there is a nice long bar with either the relative (if this post is new) or exact date (if this post is old). I simply suggest (and yes, I know I can do this with a hack, but I'd rather it be a feature) ... that both the relative AND the exact date be shown above posts. ---- AND also, allow users to select in UserCP which date they prefer: relative or exact - for the rest of the board.

Customer Center Security Concern

I just wanted to point something out as I felt its a security concern within the IPS Customer Center. In the profile area you have a place to put account information to help with the technical support to help with board issues. Passwords are shown in plain text and if your IPS account were to say become compromised anyone would have access to that information to any licenses that you currently own. A suggestion would be to at least mask the passwords to prevent this.

What good is XML-RPC?

(I'm sure this has been asked before, so excuse me for asking again) I tried the search, but it said no results for "XML-RPC" and "XML-RPC API" has a 3-letter word. So can anybody tell me what good is XML-RPC in IPB? (there's a setting in ACP).

Suggestion: Would it be possible to grab (using javascript) the current time , compare against server-time and timezone, (or just grab the timezone via javascript- if possible) and just GUESS the time-zone? So, add an <option SELECTED> next to the guessed time-zone.

Mass Delete Emoticons?

Is it possible to mass delete all the emoticons in the default folder? I have deleted them all through FTP but they are all stick showing (without images) in the manage emoticon section. I would like to see an option where we can select two or more emoticons at a time and delete them. It's so annoying to delete them one by one and wait for the page to refresh each time.

I get the following error when I try to log into the board. This is a brand new board that I just installed. I did the step by step and everything installed just fine. I have tried unistalling everything and reinstalling, but continue to receive that error. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Hello, I have a question to ask you Invision Power Services. Was Invision Power Board ever free? I remmember it being free to the version of 1.3 Final(Invision Power Board 1.3 Final). I would just like to know if that version and below is completely free. Not editing the Script or any of that, just to use. Because I know, after 1.3 Final, it started costing money. Is it possible to disable to view count of a topic for the topic starter? I have a thread that I started where I tell my members which Mods are installed on the board and every time I add, edit, view it the count is incremented by 1. How can I make it so after viewing the topic once that it will not increment afterwards?

What happened to the QC?

More negative feedback (so this will probably be locked), but what happened to the extensive QC testing that was apparently taking place prior to every release? The latest update has introduced what I would call some significant bugs, all of which affect functionality and all of which could easily have been picked up with some basic QC testing. Do we need to go back to the days of waiting a week or two before installing new versions just to make sure they're going to work?

I experience problemes with the buildt-in backup script. I would love to have an external script, that can take a backup of the database in with various options. Just like GZIP, just backup the essentials tables (to remove components, osv.), maybe use iconv to convert database to UTF-8. Please take this to consideration. Because I think many wants to just backup the nececcary parts of the forum, and not things they do not need... OT: How can I make the build-in script work? Or is this a question for IPSBeyond? Now, this is just me, but I'd rather enjoy it if in v2.4, or a later version, the Admin CP style is changed to match the Pro skin, as well as the Nexus theme. Or, better yet, have a CSS editor built into Board for the ACP, and allow us to skin it without editing files.

The thought of running a tool that cycles 500 posts at a time is a very scary thought to me... I have 600k+ posts on my forum, and that will take a very long time. It's ok for smaller boards, but for larger boards it's going to be a nightmare... I was thinking that it might be better to run a php script through shell instead of piping it through apache (or whatever web service is installed). You can also use set_time_limit to keep the script from timing out... Basically... You know how you can do manual sql upgrades with SSH? Would be nice if there was something similar for the rebuild tools...
